Several parish priests gathered for a half-day of reflection on their mission within the parish and broader community.
The session focused on the Jubilee of Hope and the rite marking the beginning of a parish priest’s ministry, traditionally celebrated during the Mass of Possession and Installation.
Fr Daniel Xerri, the guest speaker, emphasised the importance of hope in the life of a parish priest. He reflected on how this attitude should shape their ministry, especially in their role as administrators of the sacraments and spiritual guides, leading their communities towards a deeper faith and a personal relationship with Christ.
Following the reflection, Fr Karist Zammit led a time of Eucharistic adoration, drawing inspiration from the parable of the vine — Christ as the true vine and we as the branches.
The gathering concluded with Archbishop Charles Scicluna renewing the promises made by every parish priest at the start of their ministry, followed by the imparting of the Sacramental blessing.
