The Parish Priest of Pembroke, Fr Rene Vella, has presented a copy of “Elf Minuta” (One Thousand Minutes) to Archbishop Paul Cremona. This parish of Pembroke published this booklet in connection with the preparations for the pastoral visit of the Archbishop to the parish. The presentation was held on Saturday 17th March 2012, during the opening mass of the pastoral visit.
The project “Elf Minuta” (One Thousand Minutes) consists of an initiative which encouraged ten minutes of prayer per day for one hundred days, from 8th December 2011 (the day in which the parish of Pembroke celebrated its seventh anniversary) to 16th March 2012, the final day before the commencement of the Archbishop’s pastoral visit. The parish provided assistance for this time of prayer through the publication of this booklet, containing one hundred pages of prayers for every day. The name of the booklet “Min int Mulej?” (Who are you Lord?) recalls that the scope of prayer is the recognition of God. As a result of this recognition, the person comes to know himself. The booklet, presented in boxed form, was distributed to around one hundred parishoners who committed themselves to this initiative of prayer.
Each booklet contains four short sections, with one underlying theme. Although the one hundred reflections do not always reflect the readings of the liturgical year, they are planned in such a way to reveal the entire mystery of salvation. The outside covers of the booklet reflect the liturgical colours: white for the feasts and time of Christmas; purple for Advent and Lent; green for the ordinary time of the year and red for the martyrs.
