Archbishop Paul Cremona O.P. has appointed Mgr Alexander Cordina archpriest of Saint Paul’s Shipwreck Parish in Valletta.

Born on 7th October 1958, Mgr Cordina received his education at Stella Maris College in Gżira, at St. Joseph secondary technical school in Paola, and at 6th Form in Valletta. He continued his tertiary education at the Faculty of Theology (Philosophy & Theology), University of Malta.

Mgr Alexander Cordina was ordained to the priesthood on the 29th June 1984 and was appointed vice parish priest at St Julians Parish in the same year. In 1989 he was appointed parish priest in Ħal Għaxaq, and between 1993 and 2007 he served at San Blas Community (Caritas). In 2007 he was appointed Director for Propaedeutic seminarians, vice-rector at the Major Seminary and Spiritual Director at the Archbishop’s Seminary.

St. Paul’s Shipwreck is a parish of 1,800 parishioners comprising 800 families.
