Archbishop Paul Cremona O.P. has appointed Fr Ivan Scicluna as the new archpriest of Senglea.

Fr Ivan Scicluna was born in Tal-Pietá on 24th March, 1970. He received his education at St Giovanna Antida Primary School, the Junior Lyceum in tal-Handaq and Gan Frangisk Abela School in Msida. He continued his tertiary education in the Institute of Health Care and later in the Faculty of Theology (Philosophy and Theology) at the University of Malta.

Fr Ivan was ordained priest on 20th June, 2003. He started his pastoral work in Senglea and as a Director of Vocations. In 2005 he was appointed assistant archpriest of Rabat and rector of Nigret chapel in the same parish. In 2007 he was appointed parish priest of St Lucija where he has been serving for the last five years.  As part of his pastoral work he was also a spiritual director at various schools.

The number of parishioners in Senglea is around 4,000 gathered in 1,200 families.
