Br Ryan Dalli, 34, from Ħaż-Żabbar, joined the Order of Friars Minor Capuchin in 2013 and has spent the past years preparing for this sacred ministry through prayer, theological studies and pastoral work. He currently resides at the Capuchin Friary in Floriana and is in his fifth year of study at the Faculty of Theology at the University of Malta. In 2024, he made his perpetual profession in the Order of Friars Minor Capuchin, committing himself to live a life of poverty, obedience and chastity.
Through his ordination, Br Ryan will be configured to Christ, who came “not to be served, but to serve” (cf. Mt 20:28). As a deacon, he will dedicate his life to loving service of God’s people. His responsibilities will include assisting the bishop and priests in the celebration of the sacred mysteries, especially the Eucharist; proclaiming and preaching the Gospel; administering the sacrament of baptism; assisting at and blessing marriages; and leading funeral rites. The diaconate is an important step on the path to priestly ordination.
The Archdiocese of Malta and the Province of the Capuchin Friars Minor give thanks for the gift of this new deacon and continue to pray for an increase in vocations to the priesthood and religious life in the Lord’s vineyard in Malta.

Prayer for Spiritual Communion
My Jesus, I believe that you are present in the most Blessed Sacrament.
I love You above all things.
I desire to receive You into my soul.
Since I cannot now receive You sacramentally,
come at least spiritually into my heart.
I embrace You as if You were already there, and unite myself wholly to You.
Never permit me to be separated from You.
Amen.
