• Grassroots findings published

  • The findings of the research on the Youth Ministry scape in Malta has been publised by KDŻ, the youth commission with the Church. Titled ‘Grassroots’, the publication contains the results of a broad study assessing contemporary  pastoral environments for adolescents and youth.

Grassroots provides a useful tool for reflection and action on the state of youth ministry today. It investigates the nature of christian youth programmes and methodologies; the general profiles of members and their motivations; the characteristics of faith, religiosity and spirituality of young people; perceptions of the young on the Church, on commitment, and social issues among others.

Conducted by the Institute for Reseach of the Signs of the Times (Discern), the study measured both quantitative and qualitative data, over an eight-month period in 2013. A preliminary report of the research, discussed with pastoral leaders in the Youth Ministry Assembly in February this year, has initiated the process of pastoral planning for youth ministry, for the coming three-year cycle.
