Award in Creating and Animating Prayer Spaces is one of the courses offered by the Pastoral Formation Institute

During academic year 2023-2024, the Pastoral Formation Institute will be offering over 30 courses. Courses will be offered in different modes, namely in-person, hybrid, and online.

The courses starting in the first semester in October 2023 are:

  • Emotional Support in the Community: Basic Skills for service providers, pastoral workers, volunteers, and all who are interested in strengthening their interactions with clients and colleagues. This course is delivered through 5 in-person lectures. 
  • Introduction to Holy Communion for extraordinary ministers or those who wish to deepen their understanding of the value of the Eucharist. This is a 5-hour course that is offered online through recorded sessions.
  • Introduction to Holy Mass for liturgical ministers, and those who wish to understand the rite, history, and value of the Mass. This is a 5-hour course offered online through recorded sessions.
  • Faith Foundation for Ministry for all who wish to widen their knowledge on the Catholic Faith. This is an 8-hour course offered online through recorded sessions.
  • Introduction to Catechetical Ministry for Children for children’s catechists and parents who are interested in the Catholic Faith. This course is offered in blended form, with 6 in-person seminars and online recorded sessions. 
  • Award in Creating and Animating Prayer Spaces for educators, youth ministers, chaplains, religious counsellors and all who wish to help children and young people grow in their prayer life. This course consists of 6 in-person lectures.
  • Award in Sports Ministry for youth leaders, sports persons, school chaplains, PE teachers, and all who are interested in learning how sports can be a means of teaching Christian values. This course is offered over 4 modules and all lectures are held in-person.
  • Introduction to the Gospel of John for those who wish to deepen their knowledge of the Gospel of John. This course is delivered through 3 in-person lectures.
  • Award in Pastoral Care & Chaplaincy in Schools for educators and priests who are, or wish to be, involved in the school chaplaincy. This course is offered over 5 modules and all lectures are held in-person. 

Courses are primarily offered in Maltese, but may, in some cases, be offered in English upon request. Apart from the above-mentioned courses, other courses will be offered in the second semester starting in January 2024 and others will be offered throughout the year. The PFI was founded in 2007 with the aim of accompanying participants along their way to understanding their role within society better and empowering them to fulfil it within their community.
