The Diocesan Assembly of the Church in Malta will be convened next Friday 17th September and Saturday 18th September at the Ċentru Animazzjoni u Komunikazzjoni (CAK) in B’Kara. This year, the Diocesan Assembly will focus upon two topics which are related:

• The challenges of new evanglisation for the Church in Malta

• The heart of pastoral work in Malta.

During these two days, the Archbishop will preside over the Assembly. He shall present his vision regarding these two subjects.

The Diocesan Asssembly is an annual event which brings together all the leaders and representatives who serve in different areas within the Church in Malta. Among these we can mention the members of the Presbyteral Council and the Diocesan Pastoral Council, provincials of religious congregations, delegates of Secretariats and the presidents of Diocesan commissions, parish priests, leaders of Church Institutions and Movements, Heads of Church schools and members of the Commission for the Implementaion of the Synod.

This will be the 7th Diocesan Assembly since the conclusion of the Diocesan Synod in 2003. The Synod brought together representatives of the Christian community in Malta in order to review the life of the Church in today’s times. At the end of the Synod, it had been decided that the Assembly would meet annually in order that the spirit of the Synod and its implementation would be ongoing, as well as continue to be a source of free and constructive debate within the Church in Malta.
