The Secretariat for Catholic Education and the Association of Church Schools (CSA) are calling for a resolution to be reached among all parties involved to conclude negotiations and sign the new collective agreement for educators in both State and Church schools. The appeal comes after recent public comments and media reports, which may hinder the process.
The Secretariat and the CSA are closely monitoring the negotiations between the Government and the Malta Union of Teachers (MUT) and express gratitude for their dedication and efforts. This is the first time that Church Schools have been consulted at key moments during the negotiation process, a significant step that Church Schools believe should continue for the benefit of educators and students.
Details presented to MUT members last week indicate that the parties involved have managed to agree on many aspects, particularly in significantly improving educators’ income.
Emphasising the primary objective of this agreement, the Secretariat and the CSA highlight the impact of substantially enhancing the financial package for all educators while acknowledging their vital role in the educational system and society.
