Statement by the Bishops of Malta and Gozo

We, the Bishops of Malta and Gozo, are joining the Patriarch of Jerusalem, Cardinal Pierbattista Pizzaballa, who, on behalf of the Ordinaries of the Holy Land, appealed for prayers for all those who are suffering in the sea of violence, destruction, and hatred in the Holy Land, a turmoil that has already claimed many victims.

In response to this plea, the Patriarch of Jerusalem has designated Tuesday, 17th October 2023, as a day set aside for prayer and fasting for peace, justice, and reconciliation… Read more »

The Archbishop to participate in the Bishops’ Synod at the Vatican

Archbishop Charles Scicluna has left Malta this morning to participate in the Bishops’ Synod dedicated to Synodality, which is taking place at the Vatican from the 4th to the 29th October 2023.

Cardinals, bishops, priests, religious and lay people, totaling 464 individuals, will be participating in this Synod, during which the essence of life and the Church’s mission will be discussed. Church schools welcome 20,000 students and educators

Beginning of scholastic year 2022-2023

Church schools have reopened their doors for the new scholastic year, with some 17,000 students and 3,000 educators attending the 55 Church schools at kindergarten, primary, secondary and sixth post-secondary levels. Among these, around 2,000 students and 140 educators who will be entering these schools for the first time.
