Exhibiting the Tapestries at St John’s Co-Cathedral to mark restoration finalisation

 The St John’s Co-Cathedral Foundation is delighted to announce that The Set of Tapestries will be exhibited at St John’s Co-Cathedral after an extensive restoration process that lasted 16 years at De Wit Laboratories in Belgium. The last time they were displayed was during Pope St John Paul II’s visit to Malta in 1990.

Hundreds flock to Valletta for Our Lady of Sorrows procession

Hundreds flocked to Valletta on Friday afternoon to participate in a national pilgrimage led by Archbishop Charles Scicluna.

The national pilgrimage started at the Ta’ Ġieżu Church at 6pm and passed through various streets of Valletta. It will conclude with an episcopal blessing by the Archbishop. It is being organised by the Archconfraternity of the Holy Cross with the collaboration of the Franciscan friars of Valletta and the Archdiocese of Malta… Read more »

Pope Francis being treated for respiratory infection

Pope Francis was in hospital on Wednesday afternoon for a “previously scheduled check-up,” the Vatican said.

“The Holy Father has been at Gemelli (Hospital) since this afternoon for some previously scheduled checks,” Vatican spokesperson Matteo Bruni said in a one-sentence statement. 

In a later update, the Vatican said Pope Francis has “a respiratory infection that requires some days of appropriate medical therapy in hospital.”

New director for Missio Malta

The Congregation for the Evangelisation of Peoples of the Holy See has appointed Fr Victor Agius as the new director of MISSIO Malta for the next five years (2023‑2028).

MISSIO aims to help the Pope in spreading the missionary spirit among priests, religious, adults and children and encourages supporting the poor through financial aid for projects in Third World countries.
