From the 29th June 2008 to 29th June 2009 the Church throughout the world will observe a special Jubilee Year in honour of the Apostle Paul, whose birth is traditionally placed between 7 and 10 A.D. The celebration will be centred at the great Basilica of Saint Paul outside the Walls in Rome, where St Paul’s relics have been venerated for centuries. “Where Are the Frontiers for Solidarity in Europe?”
The Conference of European Justice and Peace Commissions (Justice and Peace Europe) of the Catholic Church held its General Assembly and International Workshop on the theme: “Where are the frontiers for solidarity in Europe?” in Seville, Spain.
The theme of solidarity takes on particular significance in the context of our increasingly globalized world. In Seville, the delegates had the opportunity to examine the challenges to solidarity – political, social, cultural and economic – on both a national and international level… Read more »

LONDON, SEPT. 28, 2009 (Zenit.org). The bishops’ of England and Wales estimate some 68,700 people visited the relics of St. Thérèse during the first 10 days of the tour of her relics.
The relics of St. Thérèse of Lisieux will be visiting the United Kingdom through Oct. 16. They arrived Sept. 16. The relics have gone through some 40 countries… Read more »
Following the invitation in previous months by the Bishops of Malta and the President of the Republic, to His Holiness Pope Benedict XVI to visit Malta, Dr Alberto Gasbarri will be visiting Malta in October to explore this possibility. Dr Gasbarri, who is responsible for Pontifical Visits, is to consider a visit by the Pope in April 2010, on the occasion of the 1950th anniversary of St Paul’s shipwreck… Read more »
Earlier this week, seven young men started out on the period of formation for the Diocesan Priesthood at the Archbishop’s Seminary in Rabat. These join the other 30 young people who are already undergoing formation towards priestly ordination in its several phases at the institution.
Within this new group of seminarians, two belong to St Sebastian’s parish, Qormi, two come from Mosta whilst three hail from Dingli, Naxxar and Kalkara, their average age being 21 years… Read more »

VATICAN CITY (CNS) — Pope Benedict XVI plans to visit the shrine of Our Lady of Fatima in Portugal next May, Portuguese bishops announced. The pope will preside over ceremonies May 13, the date of the first apparition of Mary to three shepherd children in 1917. TEGUCIGALPA, Honduras (CNS) — Days after deposed Honduran President Manuel Zelaya returned secretly to the country, there were signs that the leaders who ousted him were considering negotiations, and the foreign minister said the Vatican might help mediate a solution to the crisis.
