Pope in Malta
Benedict XVI may meet with a group of sexual abuse victims during his apostolic trip to Malta this weekend, according to a Vatican spokesman.
Jesuit Father Federico Lombardi, the director of the Vatican press office, commented this today in a press conference on the details of the Pope’s two-day trip, which begins Saturday. The Holy Father held two such encounters in the United States (April 2008) and in Australia (July 2008)… Read more »

Turin shroud
Benedict XVI says he hopes veneration of the Shroud of Turin will help people to seek the Face of God.

Archbishop Paul Cremona has been informed that Mr Lawrence Grech and the other alleged victims of sexual abuse wish to meet with him. The Archbishop has gladly accepted to meet them without any prejudice to the proceedings which are still ongoing in the Civil Courts as well as before the Church’s Response Team. Read more »

Further to the statement released by the Archbishop’s Curia and which was published by the media, regarding allegations of sexual abuses on minors by members of the clergy, that were brought before the Response Team there are a few facts which require clarification. The Response Team is the group established by local Church Authorities to investigate such allegations.
The 45 cases cited in the original statement refer to the number of allegations which were brought to the attention of the Response Team which is chaired by a Judge. … Read more »

Benedict XVI is expressing his sorrow at the plane crash in western Russia that took the lives of the president of Poland, Lech Kaczynski, his wife and more than 95 others who were on the flight with them.
