Pope: ‘May weapons fall silent, situation in Gaza is desperate’

“The number of victims is growing and the situation in Gaza is desperate.”

With these words, Pope Francis turned his thoughts to Palestine and Israel pleading that “everything possible be done to avoid a humanitarian catastrophe.”

Pope renews Archbishop Scicluna’s term as Adjunct Secretary of the Dicastery for the Doctrine of the Faith

His Holiness Pope Francis has confirmed Archbishop Charles Scicluna as the Adjunct Secretary of the Dicastery for the Doctrine of the Faith for a further five-year term.

Since taking up the post in November 2018, Pope Francis has entrusted Archbishop Scicluna with pastoral missions in several countries including Chile and, more recently, Peru. Pope renews appeal for respect of Humanitarian Law in Gaza – Pope at Angelus

Pope Francis has renewed his urgent appeal to Israelis and Palestinian fighters to stop perpetrating violence and spilling “innocent blood”.
