‘Icons or Idols’ is the title of the next public ecumenical dialogue meeting to be held on Thursday, 26th April 2012. The meeting is organised by Christians together in Malta (Malta Ecumenical Council) and will start at 6.00 and last till 7.00 p.m., at St. Andrews House, Old Bakery Street, Valletta. Sacred Scripture
The annual plenary session of the Pontifical Biblical Commission began Monday and will run through Friday at the “Domus Sanctae Marthae” inside Vatican City under the presidency of Cardinal William Joseph Levada, prefect of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith.
Jesuit Father Klemens Stock, secretary general of the commission, is chairing the session. The participants will continue their reflections on the theme of “Inspiration and Truth in the Bible.”

The Secretary of the Pontifical Council for Promoting Christian Unity is just one of the many people congratulating Pope Benedict XVI on his 85th birthday. Bishop Brian Farrell said his Council “is very much impressed and close to the Holy Father in these days as he celebrates these important moments in his life.”
In thanking the Pope for his pastoral leadership in the search for unity among all Christians around the world, Bishop Farrell said he hoped the upcoming Eucharistic Congress in Dublin, Ireland this June “will be a moment of deep reflection on the process through which the Church in Ireland and in many other countries of the world is passing as it seeks to bring new answers to the difficulties that arise and the situations that make it hard for people today to give time and input to the spiritual element of their lives.”

Michel Sidibé, DG UNAIDS
Michel Sidibe, executive director of UNAIDS, met Pope Benedict XVI and other Vatican officials April 11, seeking greater collaboration to prevent HIV infection among children by 2015. Preventing mother-to-child transmission of the HIV virus and keeping children free from HIV is an achievable goal, Sidibe told the pope, according to a press release from UNAIDS. “Millions of people around the world living with and affected by HIV are being supported by Catholic health care organizations,” Sidibe said… Read more »
