AIDS PATIENTS AT FOREFRONT OF POPE’S PRAYER IN JULY

Pope Benedict XVIXVI is dedicating the month of July to pray for AIDS patients, especially those from the poorest countries of the world.

The Apostleship of Prayer announced the intentions chosen by the Pope for this month. His general intention is: “That Christ may ease the physical and spiritual sufferings of those who are sick with AIDS, especially in the poorest countries.”

Through its approximately 117,000 health care facilities around the world, the Catholic Church provides more than 25% of all care for those living with HIV and AIDS, especially children… Read more »

CARITAS MALTA GRADUATION CEREMONY AT SAN BLAS

On Thursday 30th June, 2011, Caritas Malta held its annual graduation ceremony for those who successfully completed a drug rehabilitation programme. This event, which was held at the Caritas Centre in San Blas, was presided by Dr George Abela, President of Malta and by Mgr Paul Cremona, Archbishop of Malta.

440,000 ALREADY REGISTERED FOR YOUTH DAY

World Youth Day will begin in just 48 days, and the number of pilgrims registered for the Madrid meeting with Benedict XVI is already a record-breaker. Today there was a press conference at the Vatican to give an update on the Aug. 19-21 Youth Day.

VATICAN EXPANDS ONLINE PRESENCE AT POPE’S WISHES

Benedict XVI is pushing Vatican communication to take “enormous steps,” according to the president of the Pontifical Council for Social Communications.

Archbishop Claudio Celli affirmed this today when he presented News.va, the Vatican’s new Web portal that will bring news from various Church sources to the same site.
