Fl-ewwel ħames xhur ta’ din is-sena, il-pulizija investigat 209 persuna, filwaqt li ressqet il-Qorti 49 persuna. Is-sena li għaddiet, il-persuni investigati dwar pussess jew traffikar ta’ droga mill-pulizija b’kollox kienu 506, li minnhom 160 tressqu l-Qorti.

Fl-2009, minn total ta’ 626 persuna investigati fuq pussess jew traffikar ta’ drog, il-pulizija ressqet il-Qorti 171 persuna.

THE ARCHBISHOP MEETS WITH MALTESE MISSIONARIES


On Thursday 14th July, 2011, Archbishop Paul Cremona O.P. met the Maltese missionaries at Dar l-Emigrant in Valletta. Those present were welcomed by Mgr. Philip Calleja. Elected Bishop Fr. Emanuel Barbara and Mgr. Archbishop Joseph Spiteri, Apostolic Nunctio in Sri Lanka, were amongst those present on this occasion. A number of 23 priests, religious, and lay persons shared their missionary experiences which varied from working at the Seminaries, working with persons with special needs, and also those giving their service to promote humanitarian programmes.All of these experiences happen in countries such as Brazil, Canada, Cuba, India, Jerusalem,  Kenya, Pakistan, Peru, Pharaoh Islands, and Sri Lanka… Read more »

AIDE: PONTIFF IS MAKING MOST OF THE SUMMER MONTHS

Benedict XVI began his vacation last Thursday, which he will spend for the second consecutive year in the pontifical summer residence in Castel Gandolfo.

With Saturday’s establishment of South Sudan as the world’s newest nation, the Vatican spokesman had an exhortation for the international country: Let us not allow this nation to fail.

Jesuit Father Federico Lombardi, director of the Vatican press office, reflected on South Sudan in the most recent edition of Vatican Television’s “Octava Dies.”

He spoke of hopes that the nation might begin “a new history of peace.”

€171,152 IN AID OF THE M.S.S.P. MISSIONARY WORK

Ohloq Tbissima Marathon, the 60 hour live broadcasting marathon in aid of the missionary work carried out by the Missionary Society of St. Paul  (MSSP) both locally and in Peru, Pakistan and the Phiippines,  came to an end at midnight.
