NEW ENERGY FOR THE CHURCH IN MALTA

Wieħed mir-riżultati pożittivi tas-Sinodu Djoċesan li sar fis-snin 1999-2003 kien l-introduzzjoni ta’ Assemblea Djoċesana li tiltaqa’ kull sena. L-Assemblea ta’ din is-sena, it-tmien waħda wara s-Sinodu, qed tiltaqa’ llum u għada.

BLESSING OF THE EXTENSION AT ST. MICHAEL SCHOOL

At a meeting which took place between the Maltese Episcopal Conference and the Conference of the Religious Major Superiors, it was decided to publish this statement:

With reference to the facts and allegations which led to the decision given by the Magistrates’ Court some weeks back (which is still pending before the Courts, and hence cannot be prejudiced in any way), the Church authorities in Malta and Gozo, declare that they have been given legal advice, in the sense that, in this particular case, the Church, as an institution, does not have any legal responsibility for what was perpetrated by some individuals and that she cannot take upon herself such responsibility… Read more »

MISSION TO IRAN SEEKS TO IMPROVE RELATIONS THROUGH RELIGIOUS DIALOGUE

A delegation of Christian and Muslim leaders returned to the United States from Iran hoping that their six-day visit will improve relations between the two squabbling countries in a way that diplomatic channels have not. The four-member delegation, which included Cardinal Theodore E. AFRICANS SAY CHURCH MUST STRENGHTEN ROLE IN ELECTION MONITORING

The Church must strengthen its role in observing and monitoring elections in African countries where electoral violence prevails, said church representatives from 20 African nations. OPENING OF THE PASTORAL YEAR OF THE CANA MOVEMENT

On Monday 19th September, 2011, Archbishop Paul Cremona O.P. attended the inauguration of the Pastoral Year of the Cana Movement at the Attard Pastoral Centre.

Addressing the general assembly, the President of the Cana Movement, Dr Anna Vella, referred to the principal mission of the Movement: that of engaged and married couples.
