NEW PARISH PRIESTS’ COUNCIL

The College of Parish Priests of the Church in Malta has recently appointed a new Council for the year 2012-2013.  The College of Parish Priests is composed of seven members who represent the 70 parish priests from all parishes in Malta.  The Council members are the following:

Vice-President: Fr Bastjan Caruana, Parish Priest, Żabbar

Secretary of the College: Fr Mario Said, Parish Priest, Għaxaq

POPE ENCOURAGES SCIENTISTS IN EFFORTS TO SOLVE INFERTILITY

Infertility

The scientifically best approach to infertility, and also the one most respectful of the persons involved, is a pursuit of diagnosis and therapy, says Benedict XVI.

The Pope affirmed this Saturday when he received some 200 members of the Pontifical Academy for Life, convened for their 18th general assembly, which was on the topic of infertility.

“The pursuit of a diagnosis and of a therapy represents the most scientifically correct approach to the question of infertility, but also that which is most respectful of the integral humanity of the subjects involved,” the Holy Father said… Read more »

On Tuesday 28th February, 2012, the Institute for Research on the Signs of the Times (DISCERN) is organizing the Benjamin Tonna Lecture 2012 on ‘Medical Miracles: Faith, Fact or Fiction’. TWO NEW CANDIDATES FOR THE PRIESTHOOD

On Friday 24th February 2012, two seminarians were officially welcomed by Archbishop Paul Cremona O.P. as new candidates for the priesthood at Hal Ghaxaq Parish Church. The two seminarians, who are currently in their fifth year of formation, are Luke Cutajar  from St Paul’s parish, Rabat, and Brian Gialanze from the Parish of St Peter in Chains, Birzebbuga.

THE BENEDICTINE TORCH TO BE LIT IN MALTA

The Benedictine Order has chosen Malta to hold its annual event of peace, hope and fraternity, known as the Benedictine Torch. Every year, since 1964, the Torch is the main feature of a pilgrimage beginning from the city chosen to light the torch and ending in Monte Cassino (Rome, Italy) at the Shrine of St Benedict.
