Roman Catholic cardinals will begin electing a new pope on Tuesday 12 March, according to a statement released in Rome.

The last of the 115 cardinals who will elect the new pope has arrived in Rome. Vietnamese Cardinal Jean-Baptiste Pham Minh Man joined his colleagues in closed-door discussions at the Vatican. His presence means a date can now be set for the conclave to choose a successor to Benedict XVI as head of the Roman Catholic Church.

The fourth general congregation got underway Wednesday morning with 153 Cardinals present. Four more cardinals arrived in Rome overnight, three of them cardinal electors, cardinal Lehman from Germany, the Egyptian cardinal Naguib, and from Hong Kong cardinal Tong Hon. Four new Candidates for the Priesthood

On Friday 1st March 2013, Archbishop Paul Cremona O.P. presided over a concelebrated Mass during which four seminarians asked the Church to accept them officially as candidates for their Ordination to the Diaconate and the Presbiterate.
