Pope Benedict XVI launches Twitter account

The Holy See Press Office officially announced Pope Benedict XVI’s presence on Twitter. The Holy Father is set to send out his first tweet on December 12, Feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe, under the username @pontifex.

Archbishop Claudio Maria Celli, President of the Pontifical Council for Social Communication, noted the significance of the Pope’s presence on Twitter was not so much an emphasis on the modern world nor a tribute to technology, but more importantly a means to show that technology “is put in our hands to announce the Gospel.”

Pope: ‘The world must be filled with the presence of Christ’

In his weekly Angelus address, Pope Benedict noted that the first Sunday of Advent marks the beginning of a new liturgical year.
Advent, a word that means “coming” or “presence”, refers both to the first coming of Christ in the Incarnation, and to the second coming, when Jesus will return in glory. INSIDE-OUT launches 2013 theme for youth

On Thursday 29th of November 2012, Archbisop Paul Cremona, accompanied by 19 young artists, launched the 2013 theme for youth with a collective exhibition at the Sagrestia Vault, Valletta Waterfront. The artists produced original works on the exhibition title, INSIDE|OUT, itself inspired by the 2013 theme: “Go and make disciples of all nations” (Mt 28, 19).

Archbishop institutes two seminarians as Acolytes

On Friday 30th November 2012, at 6 p.m. Archbishop Paul Cremona presided over a celebration at Rabat parish church, during which he instituted two seminarians as acolytes.

The two seminarians, who are currently in their sixth year of formation, are Luke Cutajar from St. Paul’s Parish, Rabat and Brian Gialanzè from Saint Peter in Chains, Birzebbuga.
