30 years of KDŻ

The Diocesan Youth Commission (KDŻ) is marking 30 years since its foundation in January 1983. The Commission is the official entity within the church responsible for youth ministry in Malta.

Over the years the Commission has introduced new trends and perspectives in the service of young people. Pope chooses Cardinal Ravasi to lead annual Lenten retreat

Pope Benedict XVI has asked Cardinal Gianfranco Ravasi, president of the Pontifical Council for Culture, to lead his Lenten retreat Feb. 17-23. Bishops ask Kenya to end ethnic violence in Tana River region

Archbishop celebrates Mass for couples married during 2012

On Saturday 19th January 2013, Archbishop Paul Cremona O.P. celebrated Mass organised by the Cana Movement, for couples married during 2012, at St. John’s Co-Cathedral, Valletta.

On the 24th of January, at 6.30 pm, the Archbishop will celebrate Mass with couples who are going to marry this year.

Pope appeals for peace

Pope Benedict XVI appealed for an end to conflicts around the world on Sunday. Speaking to pilgrims and faithful gathered in St Peter’s Square to pray the Angelus with him, Pope Benedict especially prayed that, in the various conflicts unfortunately under way around the world, “The slaughter of innocent civilians should cease.” He went on to say, “Let there be an end to all violence, and let there be found the courage to conduct dialogue and to negotiate.” The Pope’s appeal for peace came in the context of a reflection on the pressing need for a recovery of the full, visible communion of all Christians, which Christ Himself desires for His Church… Read more »

1,562 marriages in the Church in Malta in 2012

The number of Church marriages registered in the Archdiocese of Malta during the year 2012 was 1,562. This marks a marginal increase over the previous year (2011) which registered 1,520 marriages.

1,351 of the total number of marriages registered in 2012, were marriages between Maltese citizens. There were 74 marriages between Maltese and foreigners, as follows: 40 between Maltese Catholics and foreign Catholics; 21 between Maltese Catholics and foreign Christians; 13 between Maltese Catholics to non-Christians.  … Read more »
