Syrian monk murdered

The Vatican’s Congregation for Eastern Churches is mourning the brutal murder of Fr Franҫois Mourad, a Syrian monk. In a statement issued Tuesday the Prefect Cardinal Leonardo Sandri, expresses “the deepest condolences to the Syro-Catholic Church, with the Patriarch SB Ignace Youssef III Younan, the Custody of the Holy Land and all the faithful of the beloved nation”.
Cardinal Sandri appeals that “this latest episode of unjustified violence, arouse the conscience of the leaders of the conflicting parties and the international community, so that, as repeatedly stated by the Holy Father, Pope Francis, the guns of war be silenced and a season of justice and reconciliation begun for a future of peace”… Read more »

On 24th June 2013, the Holy Father received 30 members of the delegation of the International Jewish Committee on Interreligious Consultations. The Pope recalled that 21 previous meetings have helped to strengthen the mutual understanding and ties of friendship between Jews and Catholics.

On Sunday 30th June 2013, the start-of-summer event with KDZ, is on at SKY Club, Paceville from 7pm onwards. The theme, “2by2” reflects the missionarity of many young people who, this summer, will engage in voluntary service. Like the disciples in Luke 10:1 they are being sent out in the name of Jesus.
