The Archdiocese apologises unreservedly to the victim for the actions of one of its clergymen, and wishes to make clear that it had already referred this case to the Holy See.

Our option should be palliative care – The Archbishop

Mass on the sixth Sunday of Easter

The Chapel of the Sacred Heart, Hospice Malta, Santa Venera

L-omelija tal-Arċisqof Charles Jude Scicluna

Hi kelma ta’ faraġ, dik li jgħidilna Ġesù llum: “Tħallux qalbkom titħawwad u anqas titbeżża’” (Ġw 14:27). Donnu jafna tajjeb ħafna l-Iben ta’ Alla magħmul bniedem, jaf li ċerti ċirkustanzi diffiċli tal-ħajja, nitħawdu u nibżgħu fihom. Illum waqt li nsellem lill-Hospice, nixtieq insellem lil kull min, għax għandu dijanjosi ta’ marda terminali, iħossu mħawwad u mbeżża’. Dan hu territorju qaddis li jeħtieġ minna mogħdrija, kompassjoni u wens; l-għerf ta’ min jaf jiskot quddiem il-misteru tal-proċess tal-mewt, għax il-mewt hi proċess… Read more »

Auxiliary Bishop Joseph Galea-Curmi has pointed to what he describes as a “great contradiction” in the government’s approach to end-of-life issues, as a White Paper on voluntary assisted euthanasia comes just weeks after the publication of a national suicide prevention strategy.

Speaking this morning on RTK103, Bishop Galea-Curmi urged the public to closely examine the recently published consultation document, which proposes that euthanasia could be carried out with “the express, free and documented will of the person suffering from a terminal and irreversible illness.”

“If you are making a strategy for suicide prevention, you do not issue a White Paper that says that assisted suicide is a solution,” the bishop said, highlighting what he sees as inconsistency in policy… Read more »

Mass with the newly ordained priests

The Sanctuary of Our Lady of Mellieħa

Il-prinċep tad-dinja ġej. Il-prinċep tad-dinja jiġi kull darba li niftħulu l-bieb. Jipprova jidħol anki mill-ventilatur. Il-prinċep min hu? Il-prinċep tad-dinja huwa x-xitan, il-giddieb, il-qattiel.

Minn qaddejja ta’ Alla nistgħu nsiru qaddejja tax-xitan. Ġesù jgħid ċar u tond li huwa l-iben t’Alla, “kontra tiegħi xejn ma jista’ jagħmel”. Mhux se jisraq qalb Ġesù imma lilna jipprova jisirqilna qalbna.

Aħna qed nakkumpanjaw lis-saċerdoti ġodda tagħna f’riġlejn Marija, li l-qaddisin kienu jgħarfu bħala t-terrur tax-xitan… Read more »
