Save the Children: ‘One child in five is a victim of war’

  • Pope Francis has repeatedly warned that across the planet, “a true world war is being fought piecemeal” and repeatedly he has decried the fact that so many children continue to be victims of conflict.

Angelus: Pope invites prayers for Protection of Minors meeting

  • Pope Francis, following the recitation of the Angelus prayer on Sunday, focused his attention on “the protection of minors in the Church” meeting, to be held in the Vatican from 21 to 24 February 2019.

    The Pope said that all the Presidents of all the Episcopal Conferences would be there and he invited those present in St Peter’s Square to pray for the meeting, which the Pontiff said, he wanted “as an act of strong pastoral responsibility in the face of an urgent challenge of our time.”

    The February Meeting will include plenary sessions, working groups, moments of common prayer, listening to testimonies, a penitential liturgy, and a final Eucharistic celebration…

How is the Catholic Action in Malta celebrating its 89th anniversary?

  • Seven years after the publication of the Encyclical “Urbi Arcano” by Pope Pius XI, Rev Prof Daniel Callus OP set up the “Lega Universitaria Cattolica Maltese”. The statute was approved by Archbishop Maurus Caruana on 19th February 1930. This was the beginning of the Catholic Action in Malta.

  • ‘Is it a boy or a girl?’ This is the most frequently asked question whenever a child is born. Although the answer is straightforward in the majority of cases, it is not so clear-cut in a small proportion. Gender is assigned according to the appearance of external genitalia, however,  in Malta, between 1 and 4 children are born with atypical genitalia every year.

Life Network: Abortion is not the real help that mothers with an unplanned pregnancy need

  • Life Network Foundation expresses concern at the fact that in the last few hours, a foreign organisation called “Abortion Support Network” has started to advertise services in Malta relative to financial support to women who would like an abortion overseas.

    It seems that through its website, this organisation claims to offer advice to Maltese women in order for them to receive financial assistance in travelling for an abortion or to somehow procure “safe but illegal early medical abortion pills”…
