Is-seminarist Andrew Camilleri ser jiġi ordnat djaknu mill‑Arċisqof Charles J. Scicluna llum 20 ta’ Jannar 2020. Il-Quddiesa ser issir fir-residenza ta’ St Vincent de Paule, Ħal Luqa. Camilleri huwa mill-Parroċċa ta’ Santa Katerina, iż-Żurrieq, u bħalissa qed jaħdem fiċ-Ċentru Internazzjonali tal-Moviment tal-Fokolari f’Ruma, l-Italja.

Permezz tal‑ordinazzjoni, id‑djaknu l‑ġdid isir xebh ma’ Ġesù Kristu li ried ikun ‘djaknu’, jiġifieri qaddej ta’ kulħadd. A Vision and a Way – The Auxiliary Bishop

The Church in Malta will soon unveil her Pastoral Plan for 2020-2023, outlining a vision and direction for her pastoral work in the years ahead. The event that inspires this Plan is the encounter of the Risen Lord with the disciples at Emmaus. This event provides us with the two foremost concerns of the Archdiocese: evangelisation and diaconia.

Week of Prayer for Christian Unity 2020

As from today, Saturday 18th January 2020, Christians around the word are celebrating the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity which ends on Saturday 25th January. During this week, Christians belonging to different Churches unite for ecumenical prayers. The theme is “They showed us unusual kindness” (Acts 28:2), taken from the narrative of St Paul’s shipwreck in Malta and the hospitality shown by the Maltese.

Inauguration of the Judicial Year of the Maltese Ecclesiastical Tribunals

The Church Tribunals of the Maltese Ecclesiastical Province celebrated the inauguration of the Judicial Year on Wednesday 15th January 2020, at the Archbishop’s Palace, Valletta.

The keynote Lectio Magistralis was delivered by Archbishop Charles J. Scicluna and examined the promulgation and reception of Pope Francis’ legislative document: Vos estis lux mundi (You are the Light of the World). This document which came into effect on 1st June 2019 set out new procedural norms, applicable to the whole Catholic Church, aimed at combating sexual abuse (especially that of minors and vulnerable adults) and ensuring that bishops and religious superiors are held accountable for their actions… Read more »

Malta prepares for the 2020 Week of Prayer for Christian Unity

The main ecumenical celebration of 2019

The texts made available to Christians throughout the world for 2020 were prepared by the Churches in Malta and Gozo. This year, the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity (WPCU) in Malta will be celebrated through a range of initiatives organized jointly by the various Churches on the island.
