Il-messaġġ tal-Isqof Joseph Galea-Curmi

F’dawn il-ġranet ta’ Aġġornament, aħna ffukajna ħafna fuq il-komunjoni, li hu wieħed mill-pilastri tal-Pjan Pastorali tal-Knisja f’Malta. Nixtieq nirringrazzja lil dawk kollha li qasmu r-riflessjonijiet tagħhom – nixtieq nirringrazzjahom mill-qalb, kif ukoll lill-Kummissjoni tal-Aġġornament tal-Kleru, li ħadmet ħafna biex torganizzah, u lil dawk kollha li taw sehemhom f’dawn il-laqgħat tagħna.

Naħseb li għenuna biex nirriflettu fuq dak li tfisser il-Knisja fil-qalba tagħha, għaliex il-Knisja mhijiex l-ewwelnett istituzzjoni, organizzazzjoni jew struttura waħedha, imma hija komunjoni mwielda mill-ħajja stess tat-Trinità Qaddisa… Read more »

Today’s Pentecost experience – Bishop Galea‑Curmi

The Parish Church of the Annunciation, Balzan

Homily by Bishop Joseph Galea-Curmi

Pentecost is not simply remembering something that happened long ago in Jerusalem. Today, it is happening again. The same Spirit who descended upon the apostles like wind and fire is moving among us here and now. The same Spirit who transformed frightened disciples into courageous witnesses is descending today upon these nine sisters and brothers who will receive the Sacrament of Confirmation… Read more »

Power to create the new – Bishop Galea‑Curmi

The Chapel of the Congregation Daughters of the Sacred Heart, Mellieħa

L-omelija tal-Isqof Joseph Galea-Curmi

“Imtlew ilkoll bl-Ispirtu s-Santu” (Atti 2:4). Hekk naqraw fil-Ktieb tal-Atti tal-Appostli. Għid il-Ħamsin ifakkarna f’dal-jum: meta l-Ispirtu s-Santu niżel fuq l-appostli u bidilhom għal kollox. Huwa l-jum meta dixxipli li kienu mimlijin bil-biża’ saru xhieda qalbiena, meta bibien magħluqa nfetħu, meta s-skiet inbidel fi tħabbira, u meta d-dgħufija saret qawwa.

Iżda Għid il-Ħamsin mhuwiex biss tifkira ta’ ġrajja li seħħet elfejn sena ilu… Read more »

He helps him grow in love – Bishop Galea‑Curmi

The Chapel of Our Lady of Manresa, Archbishop's Curia, Floriana

L-omelija tal-Isqof Joseph Galea-Curmi

“Tħobbni int? (Ġw 21:15). Din il-mistoqsija li għamel Ġesù fl-Evanġelju llum lil Xmun Pietru tolqotna għax mhux normali li fl-Evanġelju naraw mistoqsija bħal dik, imbagħad għal tliet darbiet. Mal-ewwel żgur nagħmlu l-konnessjoni kif Ġesù hawn jistaqsi lil Pietru għal tliet darbiet “tħobbni int?”, u kien Pietru li ftit qabel kien ċaħad lil Ġesù għal tliet darbiet.

Żgur li ninnutaw kif Ġesù jgħin lil Pietru, bil-mod kif jistaqsi u anke kif jittrattah wara dik iċ-ċaħda għal tliet darbiet, jgħinu biex joħroġ mill-iżball tiegħu, biex jaħfirlu, biex jifdih, biex jerġa’ jagħtih lura l-qawwa bħala ragħaj tal-Knisja… Read more »

Message by Bishop Joseph Galea-Curmi

Your Excellency, Excellencies, distinguished guests, and faith leaders, first of all, I would like to convey the greetings of Archbishop Charles Scicluna, who is presently in hospital because of a knee injury. I am sure you all understand how deeply committed he is to promoting this dialogue and this journey together.

They’re His – Bishop Galea‑Curmi

The Sanctuary of Our Lady of Mellieħa

L-omelija tal-Isqof Joseph Galea-Curmi

Aħna u deħlin hawnhekk f’din il-pjazza ta’ ħdejn is-Santwarju, hemm miktub fuq il-bieb: “Fik ittamaw missirijietna, fik ittamaw u inti ħlisthom”. Miktuba b’Malti antik, l-iskrizzjoni hi tal-1719, u hija talba li nsibu fis-Salm 22, u li hawnhekk ġiet adattata proprju bħala talba lill-Madonna tal-Mellieħa. Imma forsi ftit jiftakru li din is-silta hi meħuda mis-Salm 22, li jibda: “Alla tiegħi, Alla tiegħi, għaliex tlaqtni?” (Salm 22:2)… Read more »

Walking on the victorious path – Bishop Galea‑Curmi

The Chapel of Our Lady of Manresa, Archbishop's Curia, Floriana

L-omelija tal-Isqof Joseph Galea-Curmi

“Fid-dinja tbatu jkollkom” (Ġw 16:33). Dan hu li jgħid Ġesù lid-dixxipli tiegħu fl-Evanġelju skont San Ġwann. Hawnhekk qiegħed jitkellem fl-Aħħar Ċena, fl-aħħar parti tad-diskors tiegħu, u lid-dixxipli jgħidilhom li se jkollhom ibatu. Mhijiex komuni li xi ħadd jgħid lil dawk li jsegwuh: se jkollkom tbatu. Imma Ġesù dejjem ninnutaw li jgħid mhux dak li d-dixxipli jixtiequ jisimgħu, imma dak li għandhom jisimgħu… Read more »

Joy that lasts – Bishop Galea‑Curmi

The Chapel of Our Lady of Manresa, Archbishop's Curia, Floriana

L-omelija tal-Isqof Joseph Galea-Curmi

“Il-ferħ tagħkom ħadd ma jeħodhulkom” (Ġw 16:22). Dan huwa l-kliem ta’ Ġesù fl-aħħar ta’ din is-silta, hu u jkellem lid-dixxipli tiegħu. Imma, qabel ma wasal għal dan, qalilhom affarijiet oħra. Ġesù qalilhom l-ewwel nett: “Intom għad tibku u tingħu” (Ġw 16:20). Imbagħad qalilhom: “In-niket tagħkom għad jitbiddel f’hena, u l-ferħ tagħkom ħadd ma jeħodhulkom” (Ġw 16:22).

Hawn Ġesù qiegħed fl-Aħħar Ċena mad-dixxipli, u jolqtok kif Ġesù jitkellem fuq dan kollu meta hu qed jara minn xiex se jgħaddi, u wkoll minn xiex se jgħaddu d-dixxipli tiegħu… Read more »
