Humility and inclusivity – Bishop Galea‑Curmi

The Chapel of Our Lady of Manresa at the Archbishop's Curia, Floriana

L-omelija tal-Isqof Joseph Galea-Curmi

“Qamet kwistjoni bejn id-dixxipli dwar min kien l-akbar fosthom” (Lq 9:46). Dan hu li jgħid San Luqa fl-Evanġelju tiegħu llum, u mal-ewwel nintebhu kemm dawn id-dixxipli ma kinux fehmu tassew, sa dak il-mument, min kien Ġesù, u x’kien qed jgħallimhom Ġesù. Ftit qabel din is-silta, Ġesù kien qed iħabbrilhom, għat-tieni darba, li se jgħaddi mill-mewt li twassal għall-qawmien, li se jgħaddi mis-sofferenza… Read more »

Pope prays at Angelus so that the Kingdom of God is realised with the migrants with the exclusion of none

Mass of the pastoral visit to Matera for the conclusion of the 27th national eucharistic congress

XXI Settembre Municipal Stadium (Matera), Italy

Il-Mulej qed jiġborna madwar il-mejda tiegħu u jsir għalina ħobż: “Huwa l-ħobż tal-festa fuq il-mejda tal-ulied, […] joħloq il-qsim ma’ xulxin, isaħħaħ ir-rabtiet, għandu togħma ta’ komunjoni” (Innu għas-XXVII Kungress Ewkaristiku Nazzjonali, Matera 2022). Imma l-Vanġelu li għadna kemm smajna jgħidilna li mhux dejjem fuq il-mejda l-ħobż hu maqsum: dan hu minnu; mhux dejjem iħalli l-fwieħa tal-komunjoni; mhux dejjem hu miksur fil-ġustizzja… Read more »

Mass on the 25th Sunday in Ordinary Time

The Chapel of St Mary, Bir Miftuħ, Gudja

L-omelija tal-Arċisqof Charles Jude Scicluna

Ġesù jpoġġilna għażla diffiċli llum quddiemna: il-flus jew hu. Diffiċli ħafna anke għax aħna nifhmu li l-flus għandna bżonnhom. Imma li taħli ħajtek – ħa nuża din il-frażi ‘taħli ħajtek’ – li tiġri wara l-flus, mingħajr ma tgawdiha, hi bluha kbira. Għax donnu taħseb li l-ħajja mhu se tispiċċa qatt, ma jasal qatt il-mument meta trid tagħti kont tal-amministrazzjoni tiegħek… Read more »

Providing out of their resources – Bishop Galea-Curmi

The Chapel of Our Lady of Manresa at the Archbishop's Curia, Floriana

L-omelija tal-Isqof Joseph Galea-Curmi

L-Evanġelju skont San Luqa hu l-evanġelju li jagħti importanza lin-nisa, l-iktar wieħed. Fil-fatt, hu fl-evanġelju tiegħu li nsibu li kien hemm dixxipli nisa. Illum jissemmew uħud minnhom – dixxipli ta’ Ġesù li kienu nisa – u dawn sabu f’Ġesù dak li salvahom, dak li ħelishom, u tahom ħajja ġdida. Fil-fatt naqraw li Ġesù kien “fejjaqhom mill-ispirti ħżiena u mill-mard” (Lq 8:2)… Read more »

The Archbishop about Queen Elizabeth II: a beautiful example of how to be a leader without fanfare

Mass De Requiem for Queen Elizabeth II

  St John's Co-Cathedral, Valletta

L-omelija tal-Arċisqof Charles Jude Scicluna

“Jekk xi ħadd irid jaqdini, għandu jimxi warajja” (Ġw 12:26). Aħna u nirringrazzjaw lill-Mulej għax-xhieda sabiħa tar-Reġina Eliżabetta II u noffru din il-quddiesa b’suffraġju għal ruħha, irridu nsellmu wkoll dixxiplu fidil tal-Mulej.

Meta fl-1953 għamlet messaġġ fl-okkażjoni tal-inkurunazzjoni tagħha, hi talbet lis-sudditi tagħha u liċ-ċittadini kollha tal-Commonwealth dan il-pjaċir: “I want to ask you all, whatever your religion may be, to pray for me on that day—to pray that God may give me wisdom and strength to carry out the solemn promises I shall be making, and that I may faithfully serve Him and you, all the days of my life… Read more »
