Homily by Auxiliary Bishop Joseph Galea-Curmi

I once read that the strength of any society is measured by the progress of its weakest members. This is the main message I would like to convey today on the Day for Life.

I greet all those who are taking part in this special day, that is being commemorated on the Feast of the Presentation of the Lord when we celebrate Christ, the light that shines on the world… Read more »

L-Omelija tal-Isqof Awżiljarju Joseph Galea-Curmi

Kien kważi mitejn sena ilu, fl-1 ta’ Novembru 1820, li Maria Tereża Spinelli rċeviet il-missjoni biex tibda l-ħidma tagħha edukattiva. Is-sena ta’ wara waqqfet l-ewwel skola fi Frosinone, l-Italja, u mill-bidu l-kummenti mill-awtoritajiet kienu tajbin ħafna. Kienu jgħidu kemm kienet skola tajba.

Ftit snin wara, hi waqqfet il-Kongregazzjoni tal-Agostinjani Servi ta’ Ġesù u Marija. Illum, waqt li aħna nfakkru l-170 sena mill-mewt tagħha, nirringrazzjaw lil Alla ta’ din il-mara fundatriċi ta’ din il-kongregazzjoni, li bis-saħħa tagħha u tal-viżjoni tagħha qegħdin hawn… Read more »

Message by Archbishop Charles J. Scicluna

After the extraordinary greeting by Mgr Scerri I am lost for words. I will not repeat what I said yesterday, but I would like to take the cue from the beautiful painting that is the background to our meeting today.

Our conversion started with that of St Paul – The Archbishop

Mass on the Conversion of St Paul

The Cathedral of St Paul, Mdina

L-omelija tal-Arċisqof Charles J. Scicluna

Fl-esperjenza li jgħaddi minnha Pawlu fit-triq ta’ Damasku, il-Mulej Ġesù juri li huwa ħaġa waħda mal-komunità tal-fidi, mal-Knisja. Meta jkellmu jgħidlu: “Għaliex qiegħed tippersegwitani?” “Min int, Mulej?” jistaqsi Sawl. “Jiena Ġesù li qiegħed tippersegwita” (Atti 22:7-8).

Min jaf kemm-il darba rrifletta fuqha din l-espressjoni l-Appostlu Missierna. Nafu li frott l-ispirazzjoni tal-ispirtu u t-talb tiegħu, hu elabora, fisser li aħna l-ġisem ta’ Ġesù, il-Knisja hija l-ġisem ta’ Ġesù u li fiha, il-ġisem ta’ Ġesù hu r-ras… Read more »

When Jesus heard that John had been arrested, he withdrew to Galilee. He left Nazareth and went to live in Capernaum by the sea, in the region of Zebulun and Naphtali, that what had been said through Isaiah the prophet might be fulfilled: Land of Zebulun and land of Naphtali, the way to the sea, beyond the Jordan, Galilee of the Gentiles, the people who sit in darkness have seen a great light, on those dwelling in a land overshadowed by death light has arisen.”

From that time on, Jesus began to preach and say, “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.” As he was walking by the Sea of Galilee, he saw two brothers, Simon who is called Peter, and his brother Andrew, casting a net into the sea; they were fishermen… Read more »

Ħabat tajjeb li l-quddiesa fl-okkażjoni tal-45 anniversarju ta’ din il-parroċċa qed issir fil-ġurnata – illejla u għada – meta l-Knisja kollha qed tiċċelebra Jum il-Kelma ta’ Alla.
