Twenty Caritas Malta volunteers working in various Diaconia Commissions all over Malta have acquired first hand experience of poverty and social exclusion issues in Italian cities by successfully completing a two-week Leonardo Mobility Traing Placement as guests of Caritas Europa.

Through this placement, the volunteers acquired new skills which would enable them to better work with the underprivileged in the local environment.  Skills acquired were recorded in a Europass Mobility Certificate which was awarded to them at the end of the two-week programme. The volunteers were hosted by Caritas Ambrosiana in Milan, Caritas Firenze, Caritas Trieste and Caritas Catania.

Caritas Europa was instrumental in securing these placements which were made possible through special Leonardo Mobility Programme EU funds.  This is run by the European Union Programme Agency (EUPA) in Malta led by Leonardo Programme Officer, Ms Josette Vella.

Caritas Malta initiated and coordinated the work on this project, through the services of Mr Paul Vella Haber.
