On Friday, 23rd March 2012, Archbishop Paul Cremona O.P. attended the Annual General Meeting of the Cana Movement. The meeting was attended by a number of members who offer their voluntary services within the Movement. In their addresses, both the President, Dr Anna Vella and the Director, Rev Dr Joseph Mizzi, stated that it is important that Cana is not just viewed as a service-provider, an agency which offers several different services to families; rather it should retain its full identity as a Movement. For this reason, the Council has put forward some changes to its present Statute in order to reflect this reality. In a presentation delivered by Dr Robert Tufigno, these changes were highlighted and then put forward for discussion among those present. In his closing speech, the Archbishop dwelt upon three points: the importance of the spiritual formation of the members; the need to carry on accompanying families in their daily lives, most especially those families who are facing difficulties, the role of families as part of the new evangelization, especially the role of parents to educate their children in the faith.
