The Little Sisters of the Poor came to Malta over a hundred years ago, and their first home was at Tal-Pietà. In 1880 they acquired the old Palace de Blacas in Ħamrun, renewing and enlarging it to become St Paul’s Home for the elderly.
In 1972, they opened another home at Naxxar in a house donated by the Maltese Jesuits. Today the home at Naxxar is run by the Catholic Action.
