Vacant places for students for Kinder 1 at St Francis School, Nadur, Gozo

The Church Schools Admissions Board informs the general public that it has four vacant places for students for Kinder 1 at St Francis School, Nadur, Gozo.  These vacants places will be filled according to the Admissions Regulations for Gozo Church Schools and according to the details below.

Application will be accepted only online between Monday 13 and Thursday, 16 September 2021 from church.mt/applications. Confirmation of the application will be sent not later then Thursday, 23 September.

Should there be a need for a ballot this will be held on Friday, 24 September at 4:00 p.m. at St Francis School, Victoria, Gozo.  Only those who will participate in the ballot may attend and these will be notified by email. COVID-19 protocol will be followed.

If after this call there remain vacant places they will be filled on a first come first filled bases. Such applications should be addressed to  Sr Francesca at [email protected] or by visiting St Francis School, Nadur.

Church School Admissions 2021-2022

Admission into Church schools in Malta and Gozo, in the years of admission, are determined by the Regulations published on this page. The years of admission for Malta are, first and second year kindergarten, first year primary and Year 7 / Form 1 secondary. This year, admission for Year 4 Girls, is also regulated by the Regulations published on this page. For Gozo, the years of admission are first year kindergarten and first year secondary. Admission in other years is the responsability of each school. The Secretariat for Catholic Education takes care of the transfer of students from St Francis Kindergartens to St Francis Primaries.

Church Schools Admission is related to the year of birth.  Applications for admission at the different levels proceeds according to the instructions given hereunder.

Vacant places in Form 1 for boys who have a statement for shared support

The Church Schools Admissions Board informs the general public that it has four vacant places in Form 1 for boys who have a statement for shared support. Three vacant places are available at St Elias College in Santa Venera and one place at Stella Maris College in Gżira. These vacant places will be filled according to the Admissions Regulations Serious Cases and according to the details below.

Application will be accepted only online between Thursday 26th and Tuesday 31st August 2021 from church.mt/applications. Confirmation of the application will be sent not later than Monday, 6th September.

A ballot will be held on Friday, 10th September at 8:30 a.m. at the Archbishop’s Curia in Floriana. Those who will participate in the ballot may attend whilst adhering to COVID-19 protocols.

DATES – FILLING OF APPLICATIONS – CRITERIA 1

Due to COVID-19 all the Admissions process will be held online.

APPLICATIONS – FIRST CRITERIA:  MAINSTREAM AND SERIOUS CASES

Children from Church Homes / Children of Employees in the Same School / Siblings / Transfers /Exempted from attendance / Children from Church Schools without Continuity and Children of Employees in Another School (Para. 1a-1ġ)

  • Those who require assistance to apply online may phone on 7999 0224, 7951 5491 and  7786 5241 between 8:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m as follows:

    Surnames A to C on Monday, 30 th November.
    Surnames D to M on Tuesday, 1 st December.
    Surnames N to Z on Wednesday, 2 nd December.
    All surnames on Thursday and Friday 3rd and 4th December

 LATE APPLICATIONS MAINSTREAM AND SERIOUS CASES

  Late Applications of Criteria 1 (Para. 1 a-ġ):

  • online on https://church.mt/applications from Monday 14 December to Friday 18 December, 2020
  • In case of difficulty in filling the application online, one can phone on 7999 0224, 7951 5491 and 7786 5241 from Monday to Friday between 8:00 a.m and 2:00 p.m.

Documentation Required

Documents to be uploaded with application:

a. Catholics and other Christians are to present the Baptism Certificate.
b. Abstract of Birth Certificate from the Public Registry.
c. 1 passport-size photo of the applicant.
d. When applying parents or guardians will be asked to agree to The Declaration re Data Protection and Privacy. This Declaration may be viewed and/or downloaded here. Parents or guardians will be asked to indicate whether they would like to be notified or not if the Board needs to contact the school of their child.
e. The Declaration Educational Programme, filled by the Head of School, indicating whether the student is mainstream, has access arrangements or is supported by an LSE.  This Declaration may be downloaded from www.church.mt   In certain circumstances the Educational Programme Declaration may be sent later. In this case the applicant needs to indicate whether the student is mainstream, has access arrangements or is supported by an LSE. If there is a discrepancy between the parents’ declaration and that of the Head of School, the Admissions Board will consider the indications by the Head of School and chances available according to the parents’ indication may be forfeited if they have already occurred. The Educational Programme Declaration signed by the Head of School needs to be sent to Admissions Office not later than two days before the School Registration, for the application to be valid.  If this is not submitted, then the application will be incomplete and hence invalid.
This declaration is not applicable for Kinder 1.
f.The application by one parent, or a representative of the parents, indicates that the parents agree about the application.
ġ. In the case of separated parents when the Courts have decided that the care and custody is joint and both parents have legal rights re the education of their children, both parents need to indicate their consent. In such cases the relative and  most recent legal document that defines the children’s custody and educational responsibility is to be presented. The application is invalid if one parent disagrees or is uninformed and has not given his / her consent. 
  Other Documents required when applying with the following criteria:
g. If applying according to the Criterion for Children from Church Homes: ADeclaration on the appropriate form signed by the Director of the Home to show that the child is a resident in the Church Home.  This Declaration is to be made on the same day of the application. The preferred choice of school is also to be indicated.

għ.If applying according to the Siblings Criterion:
The Birth Certificate from the Public Registry of the other sibling/s already attending a Church School;
A photocopy of the identity cards of both parents;
and In the case of adopted or fostered children, a certificate from the Agency concerned declaring the adoption or the fostering of the child.
Custody documents when applying for half siblings
h. Applicants with a Statement of Needs that reads “Learner’s needs are to be met by Class Teacher” are to present the Statement of Needs and the most recent psycho-educational report.
ħ. If applying as Serious Case:
i. A written explanation about the case
ii. Relevant certificates including the end-of-year result if available
iii. The Statement of Needs issued by the Statementing Moderating Panel and IEPiiv. When the case has not been concluded with the Statementing Moderating Panel of the Department of Education, a copy of the application to the Statementing Board, or a report by an educational psychologist detailing the needs of the boy/girl, is to be presented
v. The Statement of Needs, for applicants whose statementing is in process, has to be forwarded to the Admissions Office once this is received from the Statementing Board.

The fee on application is €20.
The fee for late applications is €25.
A registration fee of €50 is paid on enrollment.
