On Friday, 27th November at 6.30pm, Archbishop Paul Cremona will preside over at a celebration at Floriana parish church, during which he will be instituting five sixth year seminarians as acolytes. The new acolytes are Stephen Attard from Mosta, Rene’ Antoine Cilia from the parish of St George Qormi, Nicholas Dimech from Siggiewi, Stephen Magro from Zabbar and David Torpiano from Floriana.
The institution as acolytes marks another step in the seminarians’ formation for priesthood. As acolytes they will assist priests and deacons in their ministry, distribute the Eucharist to their fellow brothers and sisters including the sick, continue to grow in their personal love for the Eucharist and above all, act and speak in such a way to be worthy servants of the Lord and the Church.
Rene’ Antoine Cilia said that the acolyte ministry highlights the sense of self offering which will shape his life on all levels as he will strive to live each moment as a gift to all.
The Seminary Community is encouraging prayers for more vocations and that the Lord may bless all seminarians for the Church to always have shepherds who live according to the Lord’s will.
