  • The Sisters of Saint Dorothy came to Malta in 1911 after they had been expelled from Portugal at a time of persecution. They established themselves in a house at Mdina and in 1921 they transferred their convent and school to the house bequeathed to them by Mgr. Alfredo Mifsud, whose sisters had been educated by the Dorotheans in Rome, and one of them, Elena, joined the sisters of St Dorothy.. Besides the Secondary School which has been transferred from Mdina to the new complex at Żebbuġ in September 1998, the Sisters have also a Junior School at Sliema opened in 1958. The Mdina Junior School has been transferred to tal-Virtu’ for nineteen years, and is now at the new complex at Ûebbuġ since 1997.
