More than 200 altar servers, both boys and girls, from various Maltese parishes attended an activity organised by the National Association of Maltese Altar Servers on Saturday, 3 October 2026, to mark the feast of St Tarcisius, Patron Saint of Altar Servers.
This annual event, which is held in a different parish each year, brings together altar servers from parishes across Malta in an atmosphere of prayer and celebration. Among other things, it gives them the opportunity to further discover the joy of being part not only of their particular parish, but also of the Church in Malta.
This year, the altar servers celebrated the feast with Mass at the Collegiate Church of the Nativity of Mary in Naxxar. Afterwards, they took part in a procession carrying the statue of St Tarcisius, which concluded with a small celebration.
During the homily, it was emphasised that, before giving our lives for Jesus, as St Tarcisius did, we need to allow a genuine love for Him to grow within us. This love gives us the strength to do what He asks of us.
