So that our lives may bear fruit – Bishop Galea‑Curmi

The Chapel of Our Lady of Ransom, Selmun

L-omelija tal-Isqof Joseph Galea-Curmi

Min mhux midħla tal-għelieqi, jew mhuwiex fl-industrija tal-inbid, forsi ma jistax japprezza daqshekk il-valur ta’ għalqa tad-dwieli. Imma fiż-żmien Ġesù, kienet għażiża ħafna – bħalma rajna anke fil-ktieb tal-Profeta Isaija li l-għalqa tad-dwieli kienet ta’ importanza u ta’ valur kbir (ara Isaija 5:1-7). Hu għalhekk li Ġesù juża lilha bħala xbieha fil-parabbola biex iwassal messaġġ hekk importanti għall-ħajja tad-dixxipli tiegħu dak iż-żmien, u għall-ħajja tagħna llum… Read more »

A heart open to everyone – Bishop Galea‑Curmi

The Chapel of Our Lady of Manresa at the Archbishop's Curia, Floriana

L-omelija tal-Isqof Joseph Galea-Curmi

“Il-proxxmu tiegħi min hu?” (Lq 10:29). Din hija l-mistoqsija li għamel l-għaref fil-liġi lil Ġesù, meta kien fisser tajjeb li l-aqwa fil-liġi kollha hija l-imħabba lejn Alla “b’qalbek kollha, b’ruħek kollha, bil-qawwa tiegħek kollha, u b’moħħok kollu, u l-proxxmu tiegħek bħalek innifsek” (Lq 10:27). Din kienet it-tweġiba li ta l-istess għaref fil-liġi, u għamel tajjeb għax għaqqad flimkien dak li kien hemm fil-Ktieb tad-Dewteronomju u fil-Ktieb tal-Levitiku, għaqqadhom flimkien kif kien għamel Ġesù stess li jgħid: dan hu l-aqwa kmandament, it-tnejn flimkien… Read more »

Fondazzjoni Sebħ has entered into a new agreement with the Ministry for Social Policy and the Family, which will support the ongoing running of its aftercare services. Over the past few years, this service relied fully on fundraising; however, with the Ministry’s support, it will now be able to grow further and reach more people in need.

Ms Kerry Hermitage, Family Services Senior Manager, explained that Sebħ’s aftercare services, established in 2023, were created to support youth, young adults and families who were either in alternative care or residents in shelters for women and children escaping violence, as they transition out of care or into the community… Read more »

There was a scholar of the law who stood up to test Jesus and said, “Teacher, what must I do to inherit eternal life?” Jesus said to him, “What is written in the law? How do you read it?” He said in reply, “You shall love the Lord, your God, with all your heart, with all your being, with all your strength, and with all your mind, and your neighbour as yourself.” He replied to him, “You have answered correctly; do this and you will live.” But because he wished to justify himself, he said to Jesus, “And who is my neighbour?”

Jesus replied, “A man fell victim to robbers as he went down from Jerusalem to Jericho… Read more »
