God is glorified in all things – Bishop Galea‑Curmi

Homily on the feast of St. Benedict

The Chapel of Our Lady of Manresa at the Archbishop's Curia, Floriana

L-omelija tal-Isqof Joseph Galea-Curmi

“Ut in omnibus glorificetur Deus”. Dawn il-kelmiet bil-Latin insibuhom fil-Prologu tar-Regola ta’ San Benedittu. U jfissru: “Biex f’kollox ikun igglorifikat Alla”. Dan hu, fil-fatt, l-essenzjal tal-ħidma kolha ta’ San Benedittu, u huwa dak li jmexxi wkoll il-ħidma li ssir illum mill-Benedittini, li waqqaf San Benedittu, fid-diversi monasteri tagħhom. Aħna llum qegħdin nagħtu ġieh lil dan il-qaddis kbir, li hu wieħed mill-patruni tal-Ewropa – kien għamlu patrun il-Papa Pawlu VI – u missier il-monastiċismu tal-Punent, u ta kontribut kbir għaċ-ċiviltà u għall-kultura tal-Punent… Read more »

Psalm: 104 (105):1-2,3-4,6-7

Gospel: Mt 10:24-33

In those days, Jesus told his apostles: “A disciple is not above the teacher, nor a slave above the master; it is enough for the disciple to be like the teacher, and the slave like the master. If they have called the master of the house Beelzebul, how much more will they malign those of his household!

“So have no fear of them; for nothing is covered up that will not be uncovered, and nothing secret that will not become known. What I say to you in the dark, tell in the light; and what you hear whispered, proclaim from the housetops.

Do not fear those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul; rather fear him who can destroy both soul and body in hell.

Are not two sparrows sold for a penny? … Read more »

Ecological crisis requires contemplative gaze – The Pope

Holy Mass for the Care of Creation

  Castel Gandolfo, Rome

Homily by Pope Leo XIV

On this beautiful day, I would begin by asking everyone, including myself, to take stock of what we are celebrating here amid the beauty of what might be called a “cathedral” of nature, with so many plants and elements of creation that have brought us together to celebrate the Eucharist, which means to give thanks to the Lord.

There are many reasons to thank the Lord in today’s Eucharist… Read more »

The Gospel of the day: 10th July

Readings of the day

First Reading: Genesis 44:18-21,23b-29; 45:1-5
Psalm: 104 (105):16-17,18-19,20-21

Gospel: Matthew 10:7-15

In those days, Jesus told his apostles, “As you go, proclaim the good news, ‘The kingdom of heaven has come near.’ Cure the sick, raise the dead, cleanse the lepers, cast out demons. You received without payment; give without payment. Take no gold, or silver, or copper in your belts, no bag for your journey, or two tunics, or sandals, or a staff; for laborers deserve their food.

Whatever town or village you enter, find out who in it is worthy, and stay there until you leave. As you enter the house, greet it. If the house is worthy, let your peace come upon it; but if it is not worthy, let your peace return to you. If anyone will not welcome you or listen to your words, shake off the dust from your feet as you leave that house or town.

Truly I tell you, it will be more tolerable for the land of Sodom and Gomorrah on the day of judgement than for that town.  Read more »
