Carlo Acutis never played in the World Cup, never won a gold medal, and yet he has become a great inspiration for millions of young people. He was born in England, but spent most of his life in Italy. He died in 2006 at the age of only 15. Pope accepts resignation of Bishop George Bugeja serving Catholics in Libya

Pope Leo has accepted the resignation of Bishop George Bugeja from the pastoral care of the Apostolic Vicariate of Tripoli, the Holy See announced on Wednesday. The Gozitan bishop had led the Catholic community in Libya for a decade.

The Vatican praises Malta’s ‘examplary’ Safeguarding Commission

The Vatican’s Commission for the Protection of Minors (Tutela Minorum) has lauded the Malta Church’s Safeguarding Commission for its “exemplary” guidelines, recommending that other episcopal conferences around the world adopt similar standards.

In its 2024 annual report on Church safeguarding policies and procedures, the Pontifical Commission said the Archbishop of Malta and Bishop of Gozo were fully committed to the Church’s response to abuse and had shown “strong and admirable leadership in safeguarding over a sustained period.”

The Pontifical Commission also commended the Malta Safeguarding Commission for adopting a “conversional justice” style with a “strong emphasis on a victim-centred approach”… Read more »
