Power comes from God – Bishop Galea‑Curmi

The Chapel of Our Lady of Manresa at the Archbishop's Curia, Floriana

L-omelija tal-Isqof Joseph Galea-Curmi

“Int li tħobb il-qalb sinċiera, għallimni l-għerf fil-fond ta’ qalbi” (Salm 51:8). Din is-silta minn Salm 51 tiġini f’moħħi meta nara din id-diskursata bejn Ġesù u l-qassisin il-kbar u x-xjuħ tal-poplu li ġew fit-tempju fejn hu kien qiegħed jgħallem.

Huma għamlulu dil-mistoqsija: “Int b’liema setgħa qed tagħmel dan kollu? U min tahielek din is-setgħa?” (Mt 21:23) Naħsbu ftit: din hija domanda importanti ħafna – li tkun taf Ġesù minn fejn ġejja l-qawwa li għandu… Read more »

The joy that the Lord gives us – Bishop Galea‑Curmi

  Balzan Parish Church, Balzan

L-omelija tal-Isqof Joseph Galea-Curmi

Hemm qisu ritornell li jinstema’ l-ħin kollu llum fil-qari li smajna. L-Ewwel Qari, mill-Profeta Sofonija, jibda: “Għajjat bil-ferħ ta’ qalbek, bint Sijon…infexx fil-hena u ifraħ b’qalbek kollha” (Sof 3:14). Dan il-ħsieb ta’ ferħ hu kontinwu. San Pawl jgħid fl-Ittra tiegħu lill-Filippin: “Ifirħu dejjem fil-Mulej; nerġa’ ngħidilkom, ifirħu” (Fil: 4:4). U s-Salm ukoll jitkellem fuq il-ferħ: “Aqbeż bil-ferħ, għanni” (Isaija 12:6). In those days, Jesus entered the temple, and as he was teaching, the chief priests and the elders of the people came to him and said, “By what authority are you doing these things, and who gave you this authority?”

A lantern that kept on giving light – Bishop Galea‑Curmi

  St. Lucy's Parish Church, Mtarfa

L-omelija tal-Isqof Joseph Galea-Curmi

Hemm tradizzjoni sabiħa bħal-lum, 13 ta’ Diċembru, fl-Isvezja, fejn issir purċissjoni b’għadd ta’ żgħażagħ, li tissejjaħ il-mixja tad-dawl, u waħda miż-żgħażagħ ikollha diversi xemgħat mixgħula mdawra ma’ rasha. Naqra riskjuża din! Imma tradizzjoni sabiħa, li tintrabat ma’ dak li tfisser il-kelma ‘Luċija’ li tfisser ‘dawl’. Tolqtok kif l-imħabba lejn din il-qaddisa, li għexet fis-seklu tlieta u mietet fil-bidu tar-raba’ seklu f’Sirakuża, Sqallija, waslet sal-Isvezja… Read more »

Preparing ourselves for Christmas by sharing with others – The Archbishop

Mass on the Third Advent of Christmas

The Parish Church of the Immaculate Heart of Our Lady, Burmarrad

L-omelija tal-Arċisqof Charles Jude Scicluna

Innuttaw, li għal tliet darbiet fl-Evanġelju li għadna kemm smajna, mit-tielet kapitlu ta’ San Luqa, diversi kategoriji ta’ nies, li jiltaqgħu ma’ Ġwanni l-Battista, ma’ Ġwanni l-Ħabbar, jistaqsuh: “X’għandna nagħmlu? (Lq 3:10). Din hija mistoqsija profonda għax aħna niftakru li l-bniedem meta jrid jagħmel ta’ rasu, lil Alla ma jistaqsihx: ‘Imma Mulej, inti x’taħseb?’ Din issir anke meta nkunu qegħdin nitfarfru, trid tagħmel xi ħaġa ta’ rasek, l-aħħar nies li tkellem huma lil ommok u missierek għax dawn inkella se jibdlulek fehmtek… Read more »
