Mass on the third Sunday of Lent

The Parish of St Joseph, Kalkara

L-episodju li għadna kemm smajna hu episodju tant importanti fil-ħajja ta’ Ġesù li nsibuh fl-erba’ evanġelji. Mhux kollox insibu fl-erba’ evanġelji imma hemm ċerti affarijiet bħall-mewt ta’ Ġesù, il-qawmien tiegħu mill-imwiet li huma tant importanti li nsibuhom fl-Evanġelju ta’ San Mattew, ta’ San Mark, ta’ San Luqa u ta’ San Ġwann.

Din is-silta li għadna kemm smajna hi mill-Evanġelju skont San Ġwann. Id-differenza bejn l-evanġelji hi meta jpoġġu dan l-inċident… Read more »

The Chapel of Our Lady of Manresa at the Archbishop's Curia, Floriana

L-omelija tal-Isqof Joseph Galea-Curmi

“Fl-aħħar bagħtilhom lill-ibnu” (Mt 21:37).  Hekk naqraw f’din is-silta, il-parabbola li qal Ġesù llum fl-Evanġelju skont San Mattew, li hi parabbola li tfisser fil-qosor l-Istorja tas-Salvazzjoni. Meta Ġesù jsemmi hawnhekk lil sid l-għalqa li jqabbilha lil xi bdiewa, imbagħad jibgħat lill-qaddejja tiegħu biex jiġbru l-frott, sid il-għalqa jirrappreżenta lil Alla li bagħat diversi profeti tul is-snin, imma li ħafna nies daru kontriehom… Read more »

Leaders of Jerusalem Churches strongly condemn latest deadly attack in Gaza

Palestinians wounded in Israeli fire while waiting for aid, according to health officials, lie on beds at Al Shifa hospital, amid the ongoing conflict between Israel and Hamas, in Gaza City.

Psalm: 18 (19):8,9,10,11
Second Reading: 1 Corinthians 1:22-25

Gospel: John 2:13-25

Since the Passover of the Jews was near, Jesus went up to Jerusalem. He found in the temple area those who sold oxen, sheep, and doves, as well as the money-changers seated there.

He made a whip out of cords and drove them all out of the temple area, with the sheep and oxen, and spilled the coins of the money-changers and overturned their tables, and to those who sold doves he said, “Take these out of here, and stop making my Father’s house a marketplace.” His disciples recalled the words of scripture, “Zeal for your house will consume me.”

At this the Jews answered and said to him, “What sign can you show us for doing this?”
Jesus answered and said to them, “Destroy this temple and in three days I will raise it up.”
The Jews said, “This temple has been under construction for forty-six years, and you will raise it up in three days?”

But he was speaking about the temple of his body… Read more »

Tax collectors and sinners were all drawing near to listen to Jesus, but the Pharisees and scribes began to complain, saying, “This man welcomes sinners and eats with them.”
