Pope at Regina Caeli – Let us not give up the joy of Easter!

  Saint Peter's Square, The Vatican

Dear brothers and sisters, buongiorno, and happy Easter!

Today, Monday of the Octave of Easter, the Gospel (cf. Mt 28:8.15) shows us the joy of the women at the Resurrection of Jesus: the text says they abandoned the tomb with “great joy”, and “ran to tell His disciples” (v. 8). This joy, which is born precisely from the living encounter with the Risen One, is a powerful emotion, which impels them to spread and to tell what they have seen… Read more »

Mary Magdalene stayed outside the tomb weeping. And as she wept, she bent over into the tomb and saw two angels in white sitting there, one at the head and one at the feet where the body of Jesus had been. The stone is no longer there – Bishop Galea-Curmi

  Parish Church, Balzan

L-omelija tal-Isqof Joseph Galea-Curmi

“Min se jgerbilna l-ġebla mid-daħla tal-qabar?” (Mk 16:3) Din kienet il-mistoqsija li bdew jagħmlu lil xulxin Marija ta’ Magdala, Marija Omm Ġakbu u Salomi – in-nisa li ddeċidew li kmieni fl-ewwel jum tal-ġimgħa jmorru lejn il-qabar ta’ Ġesù ħa jidilku bil-fwejjaħ il-ġisem mejjet tiegħu. Din kienet id-diffikultà li kellhom, għax għalihom Ġesù kien mejjet u riedu juru l-għożża tagħhom.

Il-memorja

Għal mument, nixtieq li nidħlu fl-istorja ta’ dawn in-nisa li kienu qed jimmaġinaw li se jsibu l-ġisem mejjet ta’ Ġesù u l-problema li kellhom kienet kif se jirnexxilhom jidħlu ġo dan il-qabar issiġillat b’ġebla “kbira ħafna” (Mk 16:4)… Read more »

Resurrection brings peace of heart brought by the forgiveness of sins through reconciliation – The Archbishop

Mass on Easter Sunday

  St John's Co-Cathedral, Valletta

L-omelija tal-Arċisqof Charles Jude Scicluna

“Tawh il-mewt billi dendluh mal-għuda tas-Salib; imma Alla qajmu mill-imwiet fit-tielet jum” (Atti 10:39-40). Aħna xhud ta’ dan kollu. “Lilna ordnalna biex inxandruh lill-poplu u nixhdu li dan hu dak li Alla għamlu mħallef tal-ħajjin u tal-mejtin” (Atti 10:42). L-istqarrija ta’ Pietru hi l-fidi tal-Knisja, li aħna qed niċċelebraw. Hi l-fidi li tikkonferma wkoll is-silta tal-Evanġelju li għadna kemm smajna… Read more »

Can peace be with us? – Archbishop

Peace among nations, and in some cases within nations, is in tatters. Countless lives are lost by the day in Ukraine and Gaza, while thousands more are being purged in lesser-publicised conflicts like the civil war in Sudan, which has been forced to bear witness to the displacement of eight million people.

In a heartfelt appeal for peace in his Angelus only a few weeks ago, Pope Francis said: “Wherever there is fighting populations are exhausted… Read more »
