We hold God’s masterpiece in our heart – Bishop Galea-Curmi

  Dar tal-Kleru, Birkirkara

L-omelija tal-Isqof Joseph Galea-Curmi

“Marija baqgħet tgħożż f’qalbha dawn il-ħwejjeġ kollha” (Lq 2:19). Din is-silta mill-Evanġelju skont San Luqa turina lir-rgħajja li jmorru jaraw lil Ġesù li twieled, wara li kellhom id-dehra mill-anġli li ħabbrulhom li twieled is-Salvatur – “Illum, fil-belt ta’ David, tweldilkom Salvatur li hu l-Messija, il-Mulej” (Lq 2:11). Fl-aħħar ta’ din is-silta hemm din is-sentenza sabiħa: “Marija baqgħet tgħożż f’qalbha l-ħwejjeġ kollha u taħseb fuqhom bejnha u bejn ruħha”… Read more »

Bull of indiction of the Ordinary Jubilee of the Year 2025

  St. Peter's Basilica, the Vatican

1. SPES NON CONFUNDIT. “Hope does not disappoint” (Rom 5:5). In the spirit of hope, the Apostle Paul addressed these words of encouragement to the Christian community of Rome. Hope is also the central message of the coming Jubilee that, in accordance with an ancient tradition, the Pope proclaims every twenty-five years. My thoughts turn to all those pilgrims of hope who will travel to Rome in order to experience the Holy Year and to all those others who, though unable to visit the City of the Apostles Peter and Paul, will celebrate it in their local Churches… Read more »

Il-Papa fl-Udjenza – The world needs hope

  Saint Peter's Square, The Vatican

Dear brothers and sisters!

In the last catechesis we began to reflect on the theological virtues. There are three of them: faith, hope and charity. Last time, we reflected on faith. Now it is the turn of hope. “Hope is the theological virtue by which we desire the kingdom of heaven and eternal life as our happiness, placing our trust in Christ’s promises and relying not on our own strength, but on the help of the grace of the Holy Spirit” (Catechism of the Catholic Church, no… Read more »

The Gospel of the day: 9th May

Saint George Preca, Priest and Founder of the Society of Christian Doctrine, M.U.S.E.U.M – Feast
Readings of the day

First Reading: Sirach 21:11-17,21
Psalm: 119:33-42
Second Reading: 2 Timothy 2:1-11

Gospel: Mark 16:14a,15-20

Later Jesus appeared to the eleven themselves as they were sitting at the table; and he said to them, “Go into all the world and proclaim the good news to the whole creation. The one who believes and is baptised will be saved; but the one who does not believe will be condemned. And these signs will accompany those who believe: by using my name they will cast out demons; they will speak in new tongues; they will pick up snakes in their hands, and if they drink any deadly thing, it will not hurt them; they will lay their hands on the sick, and they will recover.”

So then the Lord Jesus, after he had spoken to them, was taken up into heaven and sat down at the right hand of God. And they went out and proclaimed the good news everywhere, while the Lord worked with them and confirmed the message by the signs that accompanied it… Read more »
