Message from the Archbishop at the Aquinas Lecture, in the presence of Cardinal Tagle

Saint Gorg Preca Hall, Blata l-Bajda

Your Eminence, thank you so much for sharing your wisdom and your enthusiasm for the Gospel. Thank you also for tickling our imagination and warming our hearts with this call to be pilgrims and missionaries; but also to find, discover and enjoy, the Galilies in our myths, where the Lord promises an encounter of love, mercy and compassion.

Welcome to our islands, as you know Malta’s eptimology is rich… Read more »

We don’t always love as we should – Archbishop

Mass celebrated at the San Ġorġ Preca Secondary School, Hamrun

L-omelija tal-Arċisqof Charles Jude Scicluna

Se noffrilkom ħsieb ċkejken billi naqsam magħkom xi ħsibijiet fuq it-talb għażiż li għallimna San Ġorġ Preca. L-ewwel talba li nixtieqkom tiftakru – dan kollu talb sempliċi – hi din: “Sinjur Alla, jiena għandi bżonnok.” Bl-Ingliż: “Dear Lord, I need you.” Hu tajjeb li nitolbuha ħafna din it-talba għax biha San Ġorġ Preca qed jgħallimna nduru lejn Alla u ngħidulu, kif kien iħobb jirrepeti hu: “kollox minnek, kollox għalik, inti tmexxi kollox.”

San Ġorġ kien iħobb jilmenta, kien igerger kultant, li aħna ngħixu donnu Alla ma jeżistix… Read more »

Mass on the feast of St Ġorġ Preca

  The MUSEUM Auditorium, Blata l-Bajda

L-omelija tal-Arċisqof Charles Jude Scicluna

Din is-sena nixtieq inpoġġi lill-pajjiż tagħna, b’mod speċjali bl-interċessjoni ta’ San Ġorġ Preca, aħna u niċċelebraw ftit tax-xhur oħra, 60 sena mill-Indipendenza, u 50 sena mir-Repubblika. Aħna l-Isqfijiet qegħdin noffru lill-poplu tagħna l-okkażjoni li nirriflettu flimkien fuq il-ħames barkiet, kif sejjaħnilhom, li Dun Karm Psaila fl-1922 introduċa fit-tieni stanza tal-Innu Malti. Il-barkiet tad-dehen, tal-ħniena, tas-saħħa, tal-għaqda u tas-sliem.

San Ġorġ Preca, li twieled fl-1880, kellu 42 sena meta indaqq l-Innu Malti għall-ewwel darba… Read more »

Readings of the day

First Reading: Acts 18:9-18
Psalm: 47(46):2-3,4-5,6-7

Gospel: John 16:20-23a

Jesus said to his disciples: “Amen, amen, I say to you, you will weep and mourn, while the world rejoices; you will grieve, but your grief will become joy.
