Readings of the day

First Reading: 2 Maccabees 7:1,20-31
Psalm: 16 (17):1,5-6,8b u 15

Gospel: Luke 19:11-28

In those days, Jesus went on to tell a parable, because he was near Jerusalem, and because they supposed that the kingdom of God was to appear immediately. So he said, “A nobleman went to a distant country to get royal power for himself and then return. He summoned ten of his slaves, and gave them ten pounds, and said to them, “Do business with these until I come back.’

But the citizens of his country hated him and sent a delegation after him, saying, “We do not want this man to rule over us.’ When he returned, having received royal power, he ordered these slaves, to whom he had given the money, to be summoned so that he might find out what they had gained by trading. The first came forward and said, “Lord, your pound has made ten more pounds.’ He said to him, “Well done, good slave! … Read more »

He heard his cry – Bishop Galea-Curmi

The Chapel of Our Lady of Manresa at the Archbishop's Curia, Floriana

L-omelija tal-Isqof Joseph Galea-Curmi

“Bdew iċanfruh u jsikktuh” (Lq 18:39). Dan hu li naqraw fl-Evanġelju llum, skont San Luqa, fuq il-kotra ta’ nies li kienet miexja ma’ Ġesù, u r-reazzjoni tagħhom meta semgħu lil wieħed għama li kien bilqiegħda mal-ġenb tat-triq jittallab il-karità, u jitlob: “Ġesù, bin David, ikollok ħniena minni!” (Lq 18:38) Bdew iċanfruh u jsikktuh.

Ħa nħarsu ftit lejn dawn li għandhom sehem f’din il-ġrajja u naraw x’jgħallmuna għall-ħajja tagħna… Read more »

While he was still speaking to the people, behold, his mother and his brothers stood outside, asking to speak to him. But he replied to the man who told him, “Who is my mother, and who are my brothers?”

He entrusted his wealth in us – Bishop Galea-Curmi

  Parish Church, Balzan

L-omelija tal-Isqof Joseph Galea-Curmi

“Ħallielhom ġidu f’idejhom” (Mt 25:14). Dan hu li naqraw fil-parabbola tat-talenti meta s-sid ried jafda l-ġid tiegħu lil tliet qaddejja differenti biex huma jħaddmu l-ġid tiegħu sakemm jerġa’ jiġi lura minn barra. Għalhekk, kif nafu, lil wieħed tah ħames talenti, lill-ieħor tnejn u lill-ieħor talent wieħed, u stenna li waqt li jkun barra, dawn iħaddmuhom.

Imma nafu li meta ġie lura, sab li dak li kellu ħames talenti ħaddimhom, u dak ta’ tnejn ukoll, imma dak li kellu talent wieħed ħeba t-talent li kien tah is-sid … Read more »
