He listens and acts – Bishop Galea-Curmi

The Chapel of Our Lady of Manresa at the Archbishop's Curia, Floriana

L-omelija tal-Isqof Joseph Galea-Curmi

“Xejn la tibża’” (Mt 1:20). Dan hu l-kliem li jgħid l-anġlu tal-Mulej lil Ġużeppi meta jidhirlu f’ħolma, u jgħidlu li ma għandux għalfejn jibża’ jieħu lil Marija b’martu. Fil-fatt Ġużeppi kien baqa’ mħasseb sew għax hu kien miżżewweġ lil Marija, imma skont id-drawwa ta’ dak iż-żmien, kienu għadhom ma joqogħdux flimkien, u Marija ħarġet tqila.

Għalhekk l-anġlu ried iserraħ ras Ġużeppi li din kienet opra ta’ Alla, u jgħidlu: “dak li tnissel fiha ġej mill-Ispirtu s-Santu” (Mt 1:20)… Read more »

Doctrinal declaration opens possibility to bless same-sex couples

With the Declaration “Fiducia supplicans” issued by the Dicastery for the Doctrine of the Faith, approved by Pope Francis, it will be possible to bless same-sex couples but without any type of ritualization or offering the impression of a marriage. The doctrine regarding marriage does not change, and the blessing does not signify approval of the union.

When two people request a blessing, even if their situation as a couple is “irregular,” it will be possible for the ordained minister to consent… Read more »

The Gospel of the day: 18th December

Readings of the day

First Reading: Jeremiah 23:5-8
Psalm: 71 (72):2,12-13,18-19

Gospel: Matthew 1:18-24

Now the birth of Jesus the Messiah took place in this way. When his mother Mary had been engaged to Joseph, but before they lived together, she was found to be with child from the Holy Spirit. Her husband Joseph, being a righteous man and unwilling to expose her to public disgrace, planned to dismiss her quietly.

But just when he had resolved to do this, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream and said, “Joseph, son of David, do not be afraid to take Mary as your wife, for the child conceived in her is from the Holy Spirit. She will bear a son, and you are to name him Jesus, for he will save his people from their sins.” All this took place to fulfil what had been spoken by the Lord through the prophet: “Look, the virgin shall conceive and bear a son, and they shall name him Emmanuel,” which means, “God is with us.”

When Joseph awoke from sleep, he did as the angel of the Lord commanded him; he took her as his wife, Read more »

Ippermettuli naqsam kelma ta’ inkoraġġiment ma’ Dun Mario Said li llum inħatar ufffiċjalment kappillan ta’ din il-parroċċa fejn ilek erba’ snin taqdi din il-komunità.
