Let us not live life distracted – Bishop Galea-Curmi

The Chapel of Our Lady of Manresa at the Archbishop's Curia, Floriana

L-omelija tal-Isqof Joseph Galea-Curmi

“Qawwu qalbkom u erfgħu raskom, għax il-fidwa tagħkom hi fil-qrib” (Lq 21:28). Dan huwa l-kliem ta’ Ġesù li smajna fl-Akklamazzjoni ta’ qabel l-Evanġelju, meħud mill-Evanġelju skont San Luqa.

Ħaġa li żgur tolqotna hi li hawnhekk nisimgħu dan il-kliem “Qawwu qalbkom”, imma mbagħad meta naqraw l-Evanġelju jagħtina l-impressjoni li ma hemm xejn li jqawwilna qalbna u li jgħinna biex nerfgħu rasna… Read more »

Research: The valued contribution of religious and lay people in Church schools

A study on the future of Church schools

Research carried out among Church schools revealed that maintaining the Christian identity, intricately interwoven with the diverse charisms of the congregations, is an essential objective for all Church schools in Malta and Gozo. This imperative persists while continuing to strengthen the Christian formation provided to students, staff, and parents.

The research constitutes the initial phase of a collaborative process undertaken by the Secretariat for Catholic Education, the Association of Church Schools, and the Superior Major Religious Council… Read more »

Let’s be the ones who plant trees not cut them down – The Archbishop

Mass with new MCAST graduates

The Basilica of Our Lady of Mt Carmel, Valletta

L-omelija tal-Arċisqof Charles Jude Scicluna

Il-Kelma ta’ Ġesù, tinstema’ pjuttost ħarxa u anke stramba. Tgħiduli, għaliex? Għax dan il-qari, qegħdin noqorbu lejn tmiem is-Sena Liturġika, is-sena tat-talb tal-Knisja, qabel nerġgħu nibdew sena ġdida, bl-Avvent, bit-tħejjija għall-Milied. Allura, fl-aħħar jiem tas-sena naqraw l-Evanġelji, li fihom Ġesù jitkellem dwar il-ħajja, t-tmiem tal-ħajja, il-ġudizzju, u anke sinifikat profond tal-eżistenza tagħna.

Tgħiduli, aħna qegħdin niċċelebraw il-ħajja, qegħdin niċċelebraw l-entużjażmu ta’ bidu ġdid; qegħdin ukoll nirringrazzjaw lil Alla, ta’ parti mill-ħajja tagħna li ntemmet għall-grazzja ta’ Alla b’suċċess… Read more »

Psalm: 104 (105):2-3,36-37,42-43

Gospel: Luke 18:1-8

Jesus told his disciples a parable about the necessity for them to pray always without becoming weary. He said, “There was a judge in a certain town who neither feared God nor respected any human being. And a widow in that town used to come to him and say, ‘Render a just decision for me against my adversary.’

For a long time the judge was unwilling, but eventually he thought, ‘While it is true that I neither fear God nor respect any human being, because this widow keeps bothering me I shall deliver a just decision for her lest she finally come and strike me.’”

The Lord said, “Pay attention to what the dishonest judge says… Read more »

Pope at Audience: The Gospel has the warmth of joy

  Saint Peter's Square, The Vatican

Dear brothers and sisters, good morning!

After encountering several witnesses of the proclamation of the Gospel, I propose summarizing this cycle of catechesis on apostolic zeal in four points, inspired by the Apostolic Exhortation Evangelii Gaudium, whose tenth anniversary we celebrate this month. The first point, which we will see today, the first of the four, cannot but relate to the attitude on which the substance of the evangelizing gesture depends: joyRead more »

Mass on the 75th anniversary of the founding of St Albert the Great College

  St John's Co-Cathedral, Valletta

L-omelija tal-Arċisqof Charles Jude Scicluna

“Is-Saltna ta’ Alla ma tiġix b’sinjali li jidhru” (Lq 19:20). Xi tfisser din il-kelma ta’ Ġesù?

Meta inti qed tfittex is-Saltna ta’ Alla toqgħodx tfittex affarijiet kbar ħafna jew li jidhru. L-ewwel fittex jekk fil-qalb tiegħek għandekx il-paċi. Jekk tkun inkwetat allura m’għandniex paċi, jew jekk jien irrabjat, jew qed ngħir għal xi ħadd, jew miġġieled jew miġġielda ma’ xi ħadd… Read more »
