Pope at Angelus: God reveals himself by liberating and healing the human person

  Saint Peter's Square

Dear brothers and sisters, buongiorno!

Today the Gospel contains a very beautiful prayer Jesus addresses to the Father, saying, “I thank you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that you have hidden these things from the wise and understanding and revealed them to little children” (Mt 11:25). But what things is Jesus talking about? And then, who are these little children to whom such things are revealed? … Read more »

The Gospel of the day: 10th July

Readings of the day

First Reading: Genesis 28:10-22a
Psalm: 90 (91):1-2,3-4,14-15ab

Gospel: Matthew 9:18-26

In those days, a leader of the synagogue came in and knelt before Jesus, saying, “My daughter has just died; but come and lay your hand on her, and she will live.” And Jesus got up and followed him, with his disciples.

Then suddenly a woman who had been suffering from hemorrhages for twelve years came up behind him and touched the fringe of his cloak, for she said to herself, “If I only touch his cloak, I will be made well.”

Jesus turned, and seeing her he said, “Take heart, daughter; your faith has made you well.” And instantly the woman was made well.

When Jesus came to the leader’s house and saw the flute players and the crowd making a commotion, he said, “Go away; for the girl is not dead but sleeping.” And they laughed at him. But when the crowd had been put outside, he went in and took her by the hand, and the girl got up. And the report of this spread throughout that district.  Read more »

L-omelija tal-Isqof Joseph Galea-Curmi

“Mhux lill-ġusti ġejt insejjaħ iżda lill-midinbin” (Mt 9:13). Dan huwa l-kliem li jgħid Ġesù llum, fl-Evanġelju skont San Mattew, wara l-ilment li għamlu l-Fariżej, li għamluh b’mistoqsija lid-dixxipli tiegħu. Ġesù, b’dan il-kliem, ifisser x’inhi l-missjoni tiegħu. Huwa wkoll kliem li lilna jagħmlilna ħafna kuraġġ, għax Ġesù qed jgħid li ġie għalina lkoll għax aħna lkoll midinbin.

Għaliex il-Fariżej kellhom dan l-ilment? … Read more »

COMECE joins a global faith leaders appeal for a robust EU due diligence law

The Commission of the Bishops’ Conferences of the European Union (COMECE) supports the statement endorsed by more than 160 faith leaders worldwide, urging the EU institutions to adopt a robust legal framework to hold companies accountable for environmental damage and human rights abuses.
