Pope at Angelus: God’s love is always “extraordinary”

  Saint Peter's Square, Vatican

Dear brothers and sisters, buongiorno!

The words Jesus addresses to us in this Sunday’s Gospel are demanding, and seem paradoxical: he invites us to turn the other cheek and to love even our enemies (cf. Mt 5:38-48). It is normal for us to love those who love us, and to be friends of those who are friends to us; yet Jesus provokes us by saying: if you act in this way, “what more are you doing than others?” (v… Read more »

With whom is the Government consulting?

The Coalition ‘Int Tista’ Ssalvani’ and the Group of 80 Experts and supported actively by over 25,000 petitioners, are being ignored.

According to media reports of comments made by the Minister for Health on Friday 17th February, Government will be holding meetings on the abortion bill with a “wide array” of stakeholders till next week or the following.

The PM has also been quoted as saying that Government will meet with everyone to understand the main concerns and fears presented by the amendment and to understand any concerns about how it can be abused… Read more »

Peace is priceless – The Archbishop

Mass on the Seventh Sunday in Ordinary Time

  Valletta

L-omelija tal-Arċisqof Charles Jude Scicluna

Ħafna minna nsibu din il-paġna tal-Evanġelju forsi waħda mill-itqal, mhux biex nifhmuha, imma biex nagħmluha. Għaliex aħna nifhmu li l-liġi, li Ġesù jippreżenta bħala l-punt tat-tluq, diġà hi raġonevoli ħafna: “għajn b’għajn, sinna b’sinna” (Mt 5:38).

Din il-liġi antika li nsibu fir-Rabta l-Qadima kienet diġà liġi li tgħidlek: jekk xi ħadd ħadlek għajn ma taqtagħlux rasu, għajn b’għajn… Read more »

Deny ourselves – Bishop Galea-Curmi

L-omelija tal-Isqof Joseph Galea-Curmi

“Jekk xi ħadd irid jiġi warajja, għandu jiċħad lilu nnifsu, jerfa’ salibu u jimxi warajja”             (Mk 8:34). Dan hu li jgħid Ġesù llum fl-Evanġelju skont San Mark, fejn isemmilna dawn it-tliet punti importanti għal kull min irid ikun dixxiplu tiegħu. Huma ta’ sfida għalina, għall-ħajja tagħna, imma huma żgur ta’ għajnuna kbira biex inkunu tassew dawk li nimxu warajh… Read more »
