L-omelija tal-Isqof Joseph Galea-Curmi

Fil-mistoqsija li d-dixxipli ta’ Ġwanni għamlu lil Ġesù, tolqotna ħafna l-ħeġġa tagħhom għall-prattika reliġjuża tas-sawm. Għalihom kienet parti importanti mill-ħajja reliġjuża, u għalhekk ħaduha bi kbira li huma u l-Fariżej kienu jsumu, imma d-dixxipli ta’ Ġesù ma kinux.

X’kienet id-diffikultà? Ma kinetx li huma jsumu; dik ħaġa tajba, fil-fatt kienet waħda mill-prattiċi reliġjużi importanti għall-ħajja tagħhom. Imma ħafna minnhom kienu jagħmlu dan bħala prattika reliġjuża li tidher minn barra – x’qed tara minn barra – imma mbagħad il-qalb kienet ’il bogħod minn Alla… Read more »

Lenten Reflections 2022 – First Sunday

Reflection for the first Sunday of Lent by Archbishop Charles Scicluna

Gospel: Lk 4:1-13

Jesus, full of the Holy Spirit, returned from the Jordan and was led by the Spirit in the wilderness, where for forty days he was tempted by the devil. He ate nothing at all during those days, and when they were over, he was famished. The devil said to him, “If you are the Son of God, command this stone to become a loaf of bread.” Jesus answered him, “It is written, ‘One does not live by bread alone.’”

Then the devil led him up and showed him in an instant all the kingdoms of the world… Read more »

The Chapel of Our Lady of Manresa at the Archbishop's Curia, Floriana

L-omelija tal-Arċisqof Charles Jude Scicluna

Ħa nieqaf ftit fuq din it-talba li saċerdot jgħid wara li jkun qarha l-Evanġelju. Aħna s-saċerdoti ngħiduha minn taħt l-ilsien. Intom ħafna drabi tisimgħuni ngħid it-talb minn taħt l-ilsien, u jinstema’ ħafna, għax ma tantx ikun minn taħt l-ilsien. Waħda minn dawn it-talbiet sbieħ li s-saċerdot jgħid hi din li għadni kif għidt: ‘Bit-tagħlim tal-Evanġelju nitnaddfu minn ħtijietna’. Kemm hi talba sabiħa tal-Knisja… Read more »
